maybe some will do it but not me. i dont even own a welder and why would you go through all of that for 2 fenders, all you have to do is go to www.rollyourfender.com and for $50 you get to do it yourself and dont have to go to lowes to get parts to build one. good post never the less, havent seen that one before but just by looking over it youll be spending a lot more time acquiring parts and building it than it does to roll the fenders

why mod your car when you can have someone else to do it? why clear your headlights when you can send it to someone to do it? because some of us actually like getting dirty, and going for the challenge. not everyone is made to do this anyways. separates the boys from the men :tomato: plus u need to deposit $250 and deal with shipping |
my piece of wood worked fine, but nice post none the less.

why mod your car when you can have someone else to do it? i do everything that i can do but if i cant i have no problems what so ever paying someone to do thier job, thats how this world turns. you know that there is DIY alignment tools to correct camber, why dont you throw up that DIY mod too why clear your headlights when you can send it to someone to do it? now thats just rediculuos, im with you on that one because some of us actually like getting dirty, and going for the challenge definitely dont like getting dirty, ive worked at a printing factory before, aint no way to stay clean there. honestly, do you really like getting dirty. i bet you if there was a dirty way and a clean way to perform the same task the majority of us would choose the latter. there is certainly a point where enough is enough, sure anyone can learn how to paint a car but you wont ever see me making a booth in my garage. not everyone is made to do this anyways thats true, i guess not everyone has 50 bucks to spend either on a fender roll. separates the boys from the men :tomato: plus u need to deposit $250 and deal with shipping im all for DIY, always have been but your never going to find me doing this project (building this tool). like i said this is for TWO fenders, now if you owned a shop, hell yeah id build this shit the second i read it but for me...nahhhh. so you roll your fenders then what, stick it in the back of the garage for it to collect spider webs? |

have to agree with DLntheCL.....but im sure the right person would find this thread helpful ;)

why not just rent the fender roller tool @ a local garage for $25, roll your fender, then return it?

Not bad idea...But kinda weird, Maybe i should try that.
|
With my new wider tires, I may need to look into this!
|
As much as I like building stuff, Im happy I bought a fender roller.
|
Well, I subscribed to this one for the link they have to that fender rolling rental thingy.
Which one do you have civicdrivr? The expensive one? I don't THINK I'll need to roll fender cause I'm going with 235 (you KNOW what wheels I'm talking about). I hope I don't need to! |
That seems like a lot of work.

True, if I had one though, I'd probably preemptively roll all of them, might as well!
Too bad Miami is kinda far from VA! lol...but that's a nice offer from you regardless. I gotta find someone local that has one. |
Well Ill be in Jacksonville later this year if you can wait that long. :toocool:
|
Shoot, Jacksonville is still 8 hours away! Well, at least 6 and a half! lol.
|

it doesnt work as smooth as you think it does, but it works...

is that the homemade one?
I often thought, why not use a cutting wheel and cut part of the inner fender out. But then I guess you take away some of the tensile strength AND you then have to deal with rust. |
Touch up paint over the edges should help fight the rust.
The reason it doesnt work smoothly is because the roller itself doesnt pivot so you cant finesse the lip of the fender. |

But then I guess you take away some of the tensile strength AND you then have to deal with rust. but then also you will have a sharp edge which could easily cut a tire open, so another advantage to just rolling then cutting there then as civic said paint (or undercoating) is your friend as far as preventing the rust and such |
so basically, either do it right, or not at all.. GOT IT. lol
I'm getting tires on in the next few days so I'll figure out if I NEED to do it then. I'm rubbing SLIGHTLY with 245 40 18 with the camber at -.5 rear right now...so we'll see...depending on the how the offset sits with the 235 35 19, I may be able to dial in a little more camber and avoid rubbing at all. |
seperates the men from the boys? so you are basically calling yourself a boy? lol you nerd stop trying to be cocky over the internet because youre a nerd in person..just sayin

Ok, don't think I'll be needing the roller finally. Got 4 people in the car yesterday and without adding camber or raising up the suspension I have no rubbing with the 235's, even on 19's. So far, so good!
Look for a thread soon with new pics! |
