2005 TL-xlr8/ATLP

Hi AZ,

I own a 2005 Acura Tl. It has aem Cai and rv6 v3 PCD's.
I had a rv6 v3 jpipe but I removed it.

I am on the market for a 3 piece set-up:

Xlr8 non res cat back
Xlr8 v2 j pipe
Xlr8 high flow cat.

( Now b4 ppl ask why would I get the v2 xlr8 j pipe to add a high flow 3rd cat ? Simple, the PCD's and eliminating 3rd cat has way too many fumes . And the xlr8 v1 is not drop friendly )

Or option (2)
Atlp non res base cat back
Xlr8 v2 j pipe / atlp v2 jpipe
Xlr8 high flow cat

Are there any videos or any1 who has base 3G tl atlp non res cat back with xlr8 v2 j pipe ?

What are people running ? And what do you like ?

I would go with option 2. But that's because I think it is more quiet.

Btw what did you do with your Jpipe? I'd be interested in taking it off your hands.

The xlr8 v2 j pipe removes the 3rd cat. Unless u plan on cutting into the catback exhaust and adding it there u will be in the same boat as the rv6 j pipe

I love the sound of the xlr8 catback compared to ATLP

Im running the ATLP set up, but mostly because it is a little bit quitter. I like option 2, but it depends if you want the cat or not

Hope you realize , that the Xlr8 v2 j pipe DELETES the 3rd cat . So their is no room to BOLT up a hi flow cat . So your back to your original problem . Or you cut into what ever exhaust you get and put a hi flow cat in

that is not a stupid question. i would sell the pcd and get the hfpc and get an xlr8 v2 jpipe. no fumes all tq.

thx for the replies.
Yes I will cut a piece off from the cat back I get to accomodate the 3rd high flow cat.

Why'd you remove the RV6 jpipe?

Any1 who knows about parts & quality will tell you RV6 is not up to par. Also I lost 6whp / 12wtq !

^ :sure:

I don't know of one person on azine that would agree with that. Maybe I just don't get around.

Interesting. If you can enlighten me since you must be someone who "knows about parts", I would like to know why the RV6 stuff isnt good. I used to have the RV6 V3 jpipe and from what I can tell quality, fitment, materials used were top notch. I never got the car dynoes so I have no idea what it did for power, but besides that I thought it was a real nice piece. And the pics of their new V2 true dual exhaust looks to be some of the best craftsmanship I have seen.

Disagree with the whole RV6 thing, but I would go with the 2nd option

Gixxersmokerr 02-05-2013 09:07 PM

option 2 will set you straight, i agree
