2004-2005 Acura TSX DIY Center console/Amp removal with PIX
 

I recently installed an IPOD set up for my TSX and decided since I was taking the car appart to document it and make easy to follow direction for the members. Well here it is, its posted on my webshots account. I hope this helps out and If you read the directions and follow them correctly you can remove everything and not have one scratch. :thumbsup:

Awesome! The pictures help a ton, I was about to do this this weekend, so they should really help out.
There's another topic in the TSX forums dealing with this that mentioned a way to pop the two clips towards the back which made it super easy for me last time but I couldn't pop the other clips. Here's the thread: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25524

relik, I have NO f'in idea how you got those 2 front clips out with your bare hands.
I found it was definitely much easier to remove the two rear clips, then work your way foward. Removing the clips directly above and below the seat heater switches were the hardest. I had to keep pulling the rear up so that the entire piece wasn't bent, and then apply pressure up. And even then only one side would pop, the other side took just as much pressure. Even with all but the two front clips removed, they were a pain!

The tips of my fingers are raw from removing the console yesterday. I mean, I go wash my hands and they feel like they're burning.

And after all that, after gluing the RCA female plugs in through the armrest, I couldn't get the console back in cuz the cable plugs were too long so they bump up against the cup holder edge:tomato:
So right now I've got two great looking RCA inputs in the inside of my armrest, hooked up to nothing. I'll do some more messing around next week. Hopefully it's easier to pop off those damned clips the second time around.

Well now that you took the console out it will be a hell of alot easier to remove the clips. I do installs every day at work so i guess I am used to prying things up with my fingers. It worked for me but at first the clips were very tight, now they come up very easy. Good luck with the install and if you notice you can tuck lots of wire under the center arm rest on the inside of it when you have the console out... you will see a 1 inch space under the entire pocket that can hold alot of wire and it might free up some space for you.

which kit you got ? the Blitzsafe one ?

I got the blitzsafe adapter plugged in tot he cd changer port and I have my ground loop isolator lading to my belkin charger that is hidden in the center console. This lets me charge the Ipod in the car and I then connected the belkin charger to the home dock kit. Everything is hidden and wire loomed.

Which one ? model number ?

errh...You got 30 some pics in that album, yet you TOTALLY skipped the adaptor install part - why ? :scratch:
Didn't mention a word of the most important item - i mean the adaptor is the very reason you went thru all that business.

Do people still think the 6 disc "in dash" changer is a seperate unit?

I don't think that's what relik was saying... to add an aux input you jack into the aux port of the head unit which was meant for an external (trunk mounted?) CD-changer. As a matter of fact, if you hit the "CD" button on the head unit once, it goes to CD (in-dash 6cd changer), hit it twice and it goes into "CDC" - CD Changer control where you can control disc, track, etc on an external CD-changer. An Aux-in microcontroller tricks the head unit into thinking you've got an external CD Changer, so that the CDC input is enabled, and sends the head unit audio signals.

Well I had the Aux input for a long time so i was just adding the new Ipod set up. Anyone can install the aux input all you have to do is plug it in... There is a whole thread on this anyway, no reason for repeating. I was just helping people out that for what ever reason needed to take the console apart. I would LOVE to see pics of this, as I opted not to drill holes into my console. I have a power wire and an audio wire running from the console port (hole?) down behind my emergency brake. Works, but yours sounds so much cooler :)

yeah I am interested how to get a pin out of the blue plugs so I can install my amps instead of using a sound processor??? Any help??

I am glad people are still using this thread. I had a lot of fun working on that car. I have a Black TL-S 07 now and love it. I didn't work on it yet and not sure if I am going to. I really like the car how it is. Thanks for everyones views on this thread, it makes me feel good that I could contribute to this forum. :thumbsup:
