Reasonable price for clutch and pressure plate repair?
My 05 TL Manual Transmission went into Acura of Peoria in Arizona today. They are telling me it will cost $2,870 to replace the clutch and pressure plate (it cannot be resurfaced for my model apparently?). Can anyone tell me what they have paid at their dealer for this kind of service? I took it in because I noticed my RPMs increasing about 2,000 over normal then back down to normal in about 2-3 seconds when I would floor the gas after maintaining speed in gears 3-6. I thought this seemed like it was slipping. This seems like a lot of money so I guess I am either looking for justification of the cost or some specific examples of a better price for the same repair. Any help is appreciated!

That is way too much for those components. You would be wise to check around at some shops which you trust to see what they might charge.

Never know about the flywheel until the unit is disassembled. List, clutch set $301 flywheel $644, add another $70 for the fork and T/O bearing and the cost soars. If you can purchase the parts discount and find someone to do the job for $300, let them go at it and you'll have no headaches as long as they do it properly. |
In conclusion
Thanks to the acuraoemparts.com link the dealer price matched from what they originally quoted dropped the labor a bit and I got the total repair to $2200 to save $600. The flywheel needed replacement as well. Still fairly high in price but I suppose I am paying for peace of mind since I don't know of anyone I would trust around here (everyone in AZ takes Acuras to the dealer it seems). Plus they are good about giving me a free loaner and getting the repair done quickly. No rental needed for me.
I want to thank everyone for getting back to me quickly. It was my first post but I plan on providing more input to the forums! |
Thanks turbo.
I'm hoping my flywheel isnt in to bad of a condition. |
