Seat Belt in 2gen cl not retracting
My seat belt in my 2gen cl isn't retracting anymore. Any ideas of how to fix it?
|
go to dealer and tell them fix it under lifetime warranty... they probably will refuse but keep trying... they did mine after good talk with manager.
They also gave me a rental TSX |
Really, I knew that the srs seat belt buckle was under warrenty but not the retracting part of the belt. Ok I give it a try. Thanks

I believe that I tried asking them when I got my buckle fixed and they told me that it was not under warranty. Any ideas of key words I should use for them to fix it? Is there anything that says it in the warranty stuff.
thanks in advance |

thanks in advance do you still have the owner's manual/folder thing; there was a separate "warranty" booklet that you could show them if you still got it (and i know it is in there too; cause i doable checked the wording on the warranty itself, due to needing mine done) be willing to call up corporate honda/acura |

I had mine replaced, but it was still under warranty. I wonder how difficult it would be to get one from a junk yard and replace it yourself or have a garage install it.

Nope I have my booklet anymore. Maybe I should just call corporate honda/acura and settle it through there.
edit: also lookie what i found... (the book i was originally talking about but in PDF format; and it is from Acura themselves, under their myacura.com website; which you should sign up for if you have not already) http://owners.acura.com/Documentum/W...s/bwl23418.pdf

WHY?, they are all going to be on the weaker side retracting, and seat belts are one time use items in a crash anyways |
Thanks for all the tips. Will be contacting the dealer later this week, hopefully come out with a good outcome.

all you need is a seat belt tensioner. Part couldnt be more that 100 bucks and you should be able to replace it yourself

do you mean the "pre-tensioner" completely wrong part of the system, that piece is part of the airbag system more so, and deploys in an accident, otherwise you do not notice it on a regular day to day basis and if you mean the part that actually retracts the belt itself regularly, it is part of the seat belt assemble, and is NON-SERVICEABLE, just replaced and it would be $170 without shipping from http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/i...on=SEAT%20BELT part #4 if you where buying it yourself (and alot of manufactures actually make you buy the buckle too; #1,3, or 20 depending on car and such; because in a accident, they can jam or what not, so it's safer it also just replace it along with the belt itself) and as far as doing it yourself.... would you be comfortable working with undeployed airbags, that could potential deploy at any time, if proper precautions are not taking to disable them (even then that is not a 100% guarantee)(seat HAS to come out, or at least moved around, and if not disconnected, you could potentially strain the wiring STILL causing the side airbag to deploy) most people are not willing to take those risks, and rather pay someone else to do it :2cents: |
iirc part was $230 plus labor. And that was a seatbelt assembly i dont think u can change tensioner
|
Here's the parts diagram:
http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/i...9df5135a82.gif Either number 2 or 4. As you can see, its completely mechanical. Seatbelt sensor is in the buckle, seat removal is not needed for replacement of seatbelts. You can get the part for 177 dollars shipped to your house. |
I thought it would be part 6 or 8
|
6 and 8 are the rear seat seatbelts.
|
Like i stated above. Whole seatbelt needs to be replaced. Try get it done for free
|
:werd: bug the dealer and call ACS if needed. DIY seatbelt replacement should be at the bottom of the list.
