Window tinting v. auto dimming mirror
Just curious, does tinting the windows affect the auto dimming rear view mirror? My thought is that it would take longer for it to dim. I also realize that the tinting will reduce the amount of light entering the cabin as well.

no, it does not affect it... infact it works even better lol, Tint plus Dimming
|
It definitely dims it even more and no glare, but problem for me is that with the auto-dimming and my 35% rear tints.. It's hard to tell what kind of cars are behind me. If that matters to you.

i rather not use the auto dim
|
I turn the dimming feature off with my tint. No need for it.

dude i have 5% on my rear windows. auto dim mirror or not, lights behind me NEVER bother me :) btw once u go with dark tints like 5% your auto dim function pretty much never has to work because there is never enough light in the cabin to make the mirror want to dim.
|
I agree with those saying to turn it off. I have 20% all around and there is never a need to activate it. The headlights are already dimmed by the tint to the point where you don't even notice it anymore. The only time I do notice it is when I have my front windows down and get the glare from the side view mirrors, even though they are stock tinted slightly for this reason. Leave it off.

in Texas, we get these big ass lifted trucks who dont bother putting in projectors..
just HID bulbs, and lemmmmmmeeee tell you, it fucking sucks! |
I have had auto dim equipped cars with 35% and 20% films on all windows. I always still use the autodim feature all the time its never turned off and it still functions perfectly. Not sure why you guys would turn it off, headlights still get plenty bright behind you not to mention then your turning off your side mirror auto dim as well.

The threshold of dimming will change but not by much. My dimming mirror works even better with 35% tint since it helps block out a bunch of the light from the headlights and as well the mirror blocks off a bit more! |
Good to know...Thanks for your opinions/advice.

I just noticed this today. I have 20% and my rear view mirror was dimming so dark it was hard to see the cars behind me. How do you turn the auto dimming off? Is it just the button under the mirror? I like to know if there is a cop pulling up behind me...lol.
|
Yes- I'm pretty sure the button disables the "auto" function.
|
i have 35% tints, auto dim turned off. only turn it on if theres too many lights behind me at night.
