rockstar143's '04 NBP progress thread (part deux continues after 6 year hiatus)

So the wheel adventure started in this thread, https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/pics-thread-work-xc8s-fitment-gurus-lend-me-your-rears-778859/
But this will be the thread where I update pics of the car etc from now on.

And here are the pics for now. +35 rear +45 front, 235 35 19 Hankook Ventus Evo's, no fender roll...no adjustment of tein SS from the stance I had with the aspecs...running about -.5 rear camber and -1.3 front camber. Rode with 4 people last night (given, the 2 in the back weren't huge) and not even the slightest bit of rubbing. Yay.

A lot of people showed interest in these when 03cu1 was selling them, but they sat on that thread for 9 months. I saw the price drop from 1500 to 1300 to finally ending up at 1100 plus ACTUAL ship. Glad I didn't pass it up...I love how stealthy and mean the car looks. I've never wanted to have black wheels, but this changed my mind.

Both cars look sick as fack!

justnspace 06-22-2010 11:32 AM

it does look stealthy!

nice pickup rockstar!

bforbrian 06-22-2010 11:44 AM

Disappointed in the specs but I can't say that doesn't look fantastic.

rockstar143 06-22-2010 11:54 AM

Thanks for the kind words all...it's been an adventure for me, but yeah, I'm actually happy I didn't have to go on too much of a mission.

Only pain was I forgot to tell the tire shop about the different specs front and back and had to take 2 back to swap the other direction.

06cmv6 06-22-2010 01:14 PM

looks sweet!! he could always get spacers down the road if he wants to sit more flush...next mod with a brake upgrade and some bigger discs to fill up that empty space?? :) that will be my next mod (wilwood BBK) for my car:thumbsup:

Biggi_e 06-22-2010 01:35 PM

looks great!

LostSol 06-22-2010 03:24 PM

Wow!!!!!! Loving the look! very stealthy!

08-TL-S 06-22-2010 04:33 PM

fawk. nice rims. is your car a type-s?

rockstar143 06-22-2010 04:49 PM

thought about brakes etc...but I think this mod will hold me over for quite a while! lol...yeah, if I decide I wanna go more flush I'll do some spacers, just didn't wanna get any more involved with having to roll fenders or anything.

Thanks for the compliments all...I have an 04 so NOT type s, just have the tail and sidemarkers. It is 6 speed though.

bzyrice 06-22-2010 06:37 PM

waddup man!! been waiting to see these on your car!! look great man! soo stealthy indeed!

princelybug 06-22-2010 06:39 PM

Not a fan of black wheels, but the whip looks mean!

rockstar143 06-22-2010 09:07 PM

ironically enough, i hate black rims too...I always felt like they make it so you can't see the detail in the wheel. But once I got these and put them on, it was absolute love!

Thanks guys...lovin the comments!

rockstar143 06-23-2010 02:28 PM

Will try and set up some pics with a nicer backdrop soon...I swear...I really never thought I'd go for black wheels...but I'm really happy I did...was watching the car in the reflection on a truckers hubcap and MAN does it look mean and nice!

mrconnecticut 06-23-2010 02:40 PM

i love the murdered out theme

rockstar143 06-23-2010 02:59 PM

Thanks man, murdered out, huh...actually, that's the phrase and look I was going for! lol...PERFECT.

rockstar143 06-23-2010 07:16 PM

Ok...took a few more pics today...came out alright.

GJ rockstar!!!!!!

Walshstl 06-23-2010 07:40 PM

LOVE the stealth theme! Im same boat as you, bought some TEs and realized the prices on centercaps and lugs were insane lol! I went ahead and bought the center caps, dont think Im buying lugs. Im about to just spray paint my lugs with duplicolor metalcast blue. Basically what you did. I wouldnt mind getting $200 lugs BUT with the regular lugs people could just steal them with a 19mm socket so I'd always have to worry about where I park. Only reason to use them is for meets, which honestly I think is dumb to have to change lugs each time. Anyways long post sorry.. nice car

rockstar143 06-23-2010 08:12 PM

Thanks man, no problem!
About the lugs, they were my gorilla locks, I had paid 40 shipped...I had bought them blue, then painted black and in using goof off to take off the black, I made them completely chrome again. Duplicolor metalcast is what I used and it worked like a charm, just keep doing light coats until you get the blue to look kinda like the valvestem!

I am really in LOVE with the look of the car now...seriously. I sometimes think, dang you can't see the detail of a black wheel...but at the price I paid, I couldn't go wrong. and when I saw it rolling today and even standing still it just looks so aggressive. Totally me!

ASASN21 06-23-2010 08:25 PM

Looking goooddd, I was actually thinking of getting these before I picked up my TEs.

Questions... do you have a camber kit in the rear? I'm just wondering how the camber is only at -.5 if you don't have one. My specs in the rear are 18x9.5 +35 and the camber is at -3 w/o a kit.

HEATSEEKER 06-23-2010 08:27 PM

SWEEEETTTTT!!!! Stop by so I can take a looked at it up close.

Souljah 06-23-2010 09:13 PM

Digging your car and setup!

rockstar143 06-23-2010 10:06 PM

Thanks Fellas!

Yeah, I ended up giving in and getting a camber kit when I decided to get my last alignment. It's one of the 2 arm lower tie bar ones...85 bucks shipped off ebay. No name, but it's been fine for me!

Ryan, for sure, thought you might not be on here anymore now! Glad to see you around! I'll stop by after work one of these days.

AMUA6 06-23-2010 10:08 PM

Daddy bee's got the honey rockstar!

Souljah 06-23-2010 11:13 PM

I know I was just in here but damn...
Can't get enough of this one picture. So much win... and not even mounted.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...7/IMG_3256.jpg

rockstar143 06-24-2010 08:48 AM

The honey, huh...lol...sounds good!
Again, thanks for all the compliments guys!
Yeah, I looked back in the backseat and thought that pic was pretty cool. I was so in love with the wheels just picking them up with tires on them!

rockstar143 06-24-2010 08:08 PM

Teehee...yay...the guy I bought the centers from from WORK USA asked me for some full size images for their site. He's telling me the color is customer ordered/powdercoated. COOL!

bzyrice 06-24-2010 09:12 PM

oooh congrats!! post a link when Work posts the pics up!

When I get down there we will have a proper photo shoot! :)

I have a few cousins down there that do that for a living!

rockstar143 06-24-2010 09:59 PM

Oh, MAN, now we're f'in talking! lol...I sure will...once Logan gets back to me on where it'll be posted I'll put the link up, for sure!

Thanks again...see you soon RJ.

alexSU 06-26-2010 07:12 AM

Wheels look great man!! I like what you've done with your TL! Looks nice and fresh since you changed out the a-specs.

rockstar143 06-26-2010 01:23 PM

I like what you've done with your Avatar ;)

PS...Logan from workwheelsusa asked me for some better pics...pretty cool that my car will be featured on their page. Happy about that. Got some new pics I'm gonna try and post on here in a bit.

Haha I've been getting alot of compliments about the avatar, hey soccer is sexy lol :)

Wow, sick ride AND a nice house! These pictures are money!!

Any plans for an exhaust system?

rockstar143 06-26-2010 03:19 PM

Thanks man, very much.
No sir, no plans. I have stage 3 right now, I hate drone, I hate loud exhausts and I really don't like how any other tips look any better than the factory bumper hole opening ones.

rockstar143 06-26-2010 08:59 PM

Now that I look elsewhere on this site, I'm seeing it must have been time for rims. A lot of people upgrading right now!

imj0257 06-28-2010 12:31 PM

Looks very nice

wrxyboy 06-28-2010 12:43 PM

wow the wheels came out great, glad you got the center caps. It wouldn't look right without them.
