Intake manifold, how do i remove it?
I need to get to the knock sensor wire to replace it (a rat chewed through it ) but im having difficulties. Basically I just don't want to f*** anything up. I need to know what bolts to remove after removing the top part of the manifold and where I need to disconnect the manifold from the TB. Pics help me alot lol but I can follow instructions too. Also, do I need to replace any gaskets after I remove the manifold? I've searched for intake removal but all I come up with is egr port cleaning threads. Help would be much appreciated :)

Those EGR port cleaning will tell you how to remove the IM. You don't have to replace the metal gaskets if they are not bent. You WILL need a torque wrench I believe.

I couldn't find instructions on how to get the entire intake off to get to that wire

once you get the manifold off there are several sensor wires exposed for you
follow procedures in egr cleaning for manifold removal Once the manifold is off you will see the need for egr cleaning.. so do it now! needed every 75kmiles,,,buy 3 cans carb cleaner TB has 4 bolts, the lower rear is tough to get off with it on the car You can remove the manifold and tb together --then seperate on the bench I would get a TB to manifold gasket (comes in thermospacer kits) and IACV cover gasket Just to have them in case one gets torn in removal Clean the Iacv rod and chamber so it restores full movement and ability torque spec 16 foot pound for intake manifold main bolts- critical to get right!! |
