Tire Kingdom - Lifetime rotation & Year alignment worth it?

Hey all,

Got a quote on some tires and they added a lifetime tire rotate and balance for $40 per tire (covers holes too) and a one year alignment program for $114.99. Basically, $119.96 plus $114.99 added to my bill.

Now my car is stock height with stock 20s so do I really need this? I feel like I'm getting screwed here.

Thanks

considering you'll most likely get an alignment 1-2 times a year, it might not be worth it if your car is stock and relatively new or you don't hit every potholes around. the lifetime tire rotate and balance might be worth it if the tires are new and you plan to drive them until they're bald. i'm sure they didn't tell you that the lifetime tire balance and rotate is only for the one set of tires.....???

if you switch tires or bought new ones, you'll have to pay!

i have the lifetime balance and rotate plus alignment from firestone. my tires have a thread wear rating of 500 so i know i'll get at least 50K+ miles. makes it worth it because i've already used it 4 times within the last 8 months. my car is old with lots of miles on the chassis and i plan to drive it for many more miles in this pothole city so the lifetime alignment was worth it. i've already used it 3 times within a year!

considering these numbers.....(in my areas)

cost of 1 alignment = $79
cost of 1 tire balance and rotate (all 4 tires)= $45

cost of lifetime alignment = $159
cost of lifetime tire balance and rotate (1 set) = $59

it pays for itself already if you have it done 2-3x per year.

discount tire offers free rotate/balance/flat repair if you buy from them and firestone offers lifetime alignment for around $120, maybe cheaper if you have a coupon.

discount tire also matches any online price

Discount tire will fix any puncture (non-sidewall) for free....whether you got tires from them or not.

Sam's Club throws in lifetime rotate and balance when you buy tires there and have them installed. The installation runs about $15/tire plus whatever the cost is for the tires you buy. Their prices generally aren't bad, either.

I think you can get a better deal elsewhere... Others have mentioned Discount Tire and that seems to be a good place to go as well, though I've always gone to Sam's.

1 year alignment = rip off. I say get your money back.

lifetime rotate and balance might be worth it if you can't/don't want to do the rotating yourself.

I kinda feel the alignment is a rip off too but appreciate the input. I usually rotate the tires myself when I'm at my 'rents because we aren't allowed to do ANYTHING to our cars in the parking garage at my condo (cameras and security are everywhere).

Thanks

one year alignment, most people get their alignment done only 1-2 times a year.

Go to firestone and get the lifetime alignment. I believe its $140 or somewhere around there. And its for the lifetime of your car. Doesn't matter if you didnt buy the tires from them. We've had it on our acura for at least 4 years now. Definitely made its money back since an alignment costs about $70. We also have lifetime tire rotation on the car too.

$40 per tire is way too much. Can you just get the protection on one wheel or do you have to get it on all.

Think about it, you only ever have a flat on one tire, never all four at once.

Unless you run into the po-po.

dallison is right, but you've got a 1 in 4 change you bast that tire.

I work at a dealership which has the Quick Lane franchise on the grounds as well and if you buy the tires from us, you get free lifetime rotation and a balance per year for the life of the tires. We fix flats for free as well (assuming it can be fixed).

So yeah, I wouldn't pay for that. Seems high to me...

Hmmm, I was thinking the same.

Thanks
