Pros and cons of stainless steel and ceramic coated headers?
 

Well, with the OBX headers available in both, I'm wondering what the real differences are between the two and which would be better for me, if I decide to get them. From what I can gather up to now, it seems as though stainless steel is much better for durability, but I'm not sure. Also, if stainless steel is expected to last longer, what are the reasons for going with ceramic coated headers. Are its heat reducing properties that much more beneficial for power?

SS will lasts longer..but in OBX case, both will be the same since they are coated. CC will cut down heat more than SS.

Usually they just ceramic coat the stainless steel pipe. This keeps them looking like new for pretty much ever. Otherwise, you get heat marks on the stainless steel when they are used (and they tarnish).

Ceramic is the perferred route, but it usually costs more.

It's odd that Comptech doesn't offer a ceramic coated version. That blue/heated looking steel, and burnt in fingerprints just doesn't look that great. :(

Chrome polish will remove the "staining" from 304 exhaust systems. I ran into a product (and I can't remember the name) that is a wipe on product for people who need to get out toothpicks and toothbrushes under the hood to remove any specs of dirt or stains...

i use a 3 dollar bottle of turtle chrome polisher cheap as hell and does wonders. got it when i 1st got the cl-s 2 year ago and still have 3/4 left. Awesome for shinning my comptech exhaust

my headers aren't blue, and they don't have any fingerprints.

they are kind of a golden orange color. ;)

This is true. They are not made of ceramic material, they are just ceramic coated.
