CL Platano 10-16-2006 01:45 PM

Ummm...kiss it goodbye..your tranny may be on it's way out..

Trackruner228 10-16-2006 03:15 PM

How many miles are on the car?

acurabum 10-16-2006 03:36 PM

Any problem with your ride when D4 is blinking ??? If no then maybe your
transmi temp sensor is faulty .....

From my experience, faulty sensor or it's about to die, happened to me back over the summer. Any knocking when shifting into D4, or R?

i hit a car but the tranny never got touched. i am hoping that my trannys not gone

CL Platano 10-16-2006 07:14 PM

that could be the cause of your issues, what Mr. Joe said

Kevin.wong 10-16-2006 07:43 PM

when i first got into the accident the car was driving normal. after a while it started to overheat. after that the d4 light started blinking and the car was going mad slow even though i was gasing to 4k rpm

joe80055 10-16-2006 08:37 PM

WOAH. Do not drive the car until you do this... check your tranny fluid level... IF you have the 4-speed, there are two tranny fluid lines from the transmission that run along the bottom of the radiator... check to see if there are any leaks. If it's something just as simple as a leak, don't drive the car and risk killing your tranny. :2cents:

Kevin.wong 10-16-2006 08:59 PM

i have the 5 speed how do i check the fluid?

MikePA 10-16-2006 09:04 PM

Do you have an Owner's Manual? The tranny has it's own dip stick.

joe80055 10-16-2006 11:15 PM

by any chance, can you take any more close up pics?

Kevin.wong 10-19-2006 03:43 PM

after i put the radiator and radiator fans back in i can see if the trannys dead. BTW how do i reset the ecu so that that the blinking d4 light can reset.

fla-tls 10-19-2006 03:47 PM

I see the problem right now; it's an overheating condition. You don't have a radiator! :D

fla-tls 10-19-2006 03:54 PM

As far as resetting the ECU - you've already done that by disconnecting the battery.

Seriously - my builder just came in and looked at your pictures. He thinks you may have broken shift solenoids A & B in the accident. The are located on the outside of the transmission towards the radiator. The D4 light (I assume it's really D5 that's blinking because it's a 5 speed) is blinking because the PCM sees a fault.

In any event, get it scanned and let us know the code.

Kevin.wong 10-19-2006 04:46 PM

yea thats what my freind told me too that i might have to replace the shift silinoids, just wondering suppose i was driving with a broken shift silinoid would that damage my tranny?

My guess would be yes. Dont drive it. Get it scanned and find out what code its throwing causing it to blink.

Kevin.wong 10-20-2006 12:52 AM

how much does a shift silinoid cost about?

Vicman17 10-22-2006 12:47 PM

Flashing D4

Mine was blinking on D4 when starting and it was a bad trans temp sensor. No problems with tranny and sensor was replaced under warranty.
