FYI - P0339 and P0344 After Timing Belt Change

I was unable to find any help on here for these, so I am posting my experience.

I changed the timing belt. I have done at least 20 timing belts before - easy as pie. Started and drove fine most of the time. Every once in a while at the first VTEC, it would surge-and-cut, CEL, VSA and Delta! lights would come on. About half of the time and the second VTEC, the same thing would happen except it would stall some of the time. The surging-and-cut was similar to when the APP sensor starts to go out. Sometimes, it was fine at WOT.

The codes read P0339 and P0344 - crank sensor and cam sensor.

Turns out that both cams were one tooth off - they were behind because I apparently didn't get the slack out of the money side of the timing belt. It was an easy fix. I am glad that the computer let me know, because I otherwise was not able to tell for the 30, or so, miles that I drove it.

Anyway, I wanted to post my experience in case this happens again to somebody. Save your hydraulic tensioner pin, just in case... and double check your slack and marks so that you don't waste 40 minutes fixing this like I did.

I have the same issue :-(

Guys,

So over the weekend, My friend and i changed out the belts, tensioners, water pump, etc. on my 2005 TL.

I drove the car fine home no issues. The next day from cold start I could tell it took longer for the engine to start. When it did similar to the post above my check engine light came on, VSA came on.

Took it to auto zone and got the p0344 error code, anyways drove to run some errands and when heading back home i noticed the car started up w/o any issues and the check engine light was gone.

Fast forward to this morning, getting ready to go to work, the car again started up funny, and i have the check engine light back on the car.

Any idea, could it be a cam sensor issue? Or could it be my timing is off by a tooth.

any help or guidance would be appreciated

Thanks,
Sergio

Mine was because I had a bit of slack on the pulling side of the assembly and I was off a tooth once the slack was out. Check the timing.

Check timing. All marks should be TDC on cams and crank. Check the actual cam marks, not the cover marks.

I changed timing belt on 2004 mdx , now check engine light , VTM light and VSA light is on. Above 3000 RPM engine sputters and misses.
Code P0344 is set, check engine light is always on. VSA and VTM comes on at 3000 RPM.
What is the best solution?
