Shops who install stash spots for a TL - like for a gun etc...

The crime rate has gone up in my area, some wanna be thugs are now roaming the streets because of a strip club/bar that just opened up down the street from our home.

Was wondering if anyone knows a place that does custom stash spot installs say in the LA/OC/LB Area in southern California.

I would like to wield a weapon for defense purposes.

01tl4tl 05-24-2011 08:13 PM

legal disclaimer: ck your local laws on carrying concealed weapons of any kind

but as to who--ck out custom audio shops- the kind that do fiberglass enclosures for speakers etc,,,they can fab a cover onto the door map pocket....

Karanx7 05-24-2011 09:01 PM

No dude, forget that kind of stuff. Safety is important, so you can't just skimp out like that. Be a man and protect your assets like a boss.

Retrofit the weapon from the S.H.I.E.L.D TL onto your car:

That TL is SEXY!

TRafalik 05-24-2011 10:10 PM

If you have it readily accessible you are going to have problems with cops. Keeping it in between the seats is illegal in Georgia for example. I would consult with a lawyer.

justnspace 05-24-2011 10:36 PM

Suuuuuuure, its for a gun.

What are the cops gonna do? Have you seen the turret he's gonna put on his roof? No one's gonna mess with him.

Karanx7: LMAO that is great!, yeah don't wimp out by carrying concealed, just mount this on your roof!

actright 05-25-2011 04:14 AM

@ 01tl4tl, thanks chief. im going to look into that

Sperry 05-25-2011 04:46 AM

You're joking, right? Like you really have a concealed carry permit for California?
And we're going to assist you in committing a felony?

justnspace 05-25-2011 07:07 AM

^is it against the law to carry?
am i missing something???

I'm glad i live in Texas.
I can carry in the car without a permit. if I would like to carry on the streets, I'd get a permit.
I can defend my castles, this includes my house and car.
Did I mention, I love Texas.

Nola2000TL 05-25-2011 08:15 AM

Like someone mentioned different places have different laws. Being from Louisiana everytime I've been pulled over for speeding, etc, I make sure that my gun is in plain sight. I exit the vehicle with my hands behind my head, and I let the officer know that there is a loaded gun in my car. I have never had a problem, and I don't have a concealed weapons permit. When I was pulled over in South Carolina, I was told by the officer that the gun was supposed to be kept in the glove box or under the seat according to SC's laws.

I'm not sure why you would want a stash spot; If you are going to need it, you are going to need it fast.

In NY you can carry a gun in your vehicle, but you need a permit. Though a permit only takes 3 days to get so long as you have a clean criminal record.

You cannot have a gun in NYC limits though, unless you have a city permit (aka much harder to get)

I keep mine latched to my driver door, I've never had to use it thankfully though I once carjacked at gun point and I did use my pepper spray on the guy (had to be an amateur) This was of course when I was driving my dad's S-Class (one of maybe 10 times I've drove it in the 5 years he had it) and since then I've mounted little pepper sprays to all of my family member's cars (best $10 you can spend, come on little keychains you can hang on a turn signal stalk)

that being said, I'm going to Texas for med school (A&M!) and somehow I get the feeling that there is a lot less crime in that state than in NY simply because you never know just who is packing

01tl4tl 05-25-2011 10:09 AM

that is the problem with packing real heat--
you must be prepared to use DEADLY force! and take a life = to defend what is no more than recycled budweiser cans and some wires..just stuff~

the robber/carjacker is more likely to have a gun,, and a buddy with one,,
and have NO concerns about blowing your face off just to get your car
--to sell for 100 bucks of rock to the chop shop and their next high

Remember, they may be on serious drugs that killed off the logic and caring brain cells~
or they are jonesing bad and need that fix now--no logic circuits working then

I can see pepper spray to fend off the amateur, but again--local laws may call that a real weapon,,, and you are the one in trouble for carrying it

My opinion- much as I love my car,,I love being able to ride a motorcycle more,,
meaning you can have the stupid car!!- just dont shoot me!
I have full coverage car insurance for a reason!! they can be replaced--its just stuff

sure you get to carry a firearm in Texas!!!,,but you have to live in Texas,
so the tradeoff may be a long time coming~

Lol your right. AZ gun laws are a joke. This whole thread made me realize that other states actually have gun laws.

I could carry a gun wherever I like with no problems. Thankfully, guns are still legally banned on school campus.

actright 05-25-2011 11:59 AM

nola2000tl: in louisiana, when you got pulled over for speeding... did the officer give you those specific instructions (to exit with hands on head walking backwards) after you mentioned your loaded gun? - also did you tell him right away, or first had the conversation about why he pulled you over? or did you wait for him to ask you if you had weapons?

also what kind of gun do you usually carry in the car? and where do you store it?

in SC in that incident, did the officer write you a ticket, or temporarily confiscate your gun for having it loaded in the car (for not following the carry laws in sc) or did he just give you a warning?

when i mean stash spot, i mean like hide in plain sight type of storage place

sperry, yah its kind of a dumb thing to ask, so in my question i was hoping to find other TL drivers in the same situation,& possibly upload photos of their stash spots. i think its kind of a cool idea, i am also looking for the other gun enthusiasts on the forums.

in california, the gun laws are so strict that you pretty much cant defend yourself from car jacking using a gun.

No, I get out of the car, put my hands behind my head, and let him know about the gun. This is done soon after I stop and in a calm fashion. I get out of the car immediately because a cop is going to feel very uneasy if you are within an arms reach of a loaded gun.

In SC and the other 2 times this has occured, I've only been written a ticket for speeding. They could see that I was trying to make what could be a scary situation as calm as possible.

The main reason why my gun is with me is incase I come home and there is someone in my house, I don't want to get shot with my own gun. Like someone mentioned above, if the car jacker has a gun, there isn't much you can do but give them your car. If they are not carrying a gun but some other weapon, I think they have to break the window or force their way into the vehicle before you can shoot (don't quote me on that). I carry a Glock 40, it's usually under the seat.

V_Langs_3.2TL 05-25-2011 01:06 PM

I've yet to see reasonable logic as to why I would have to carry a gun on campus.

car is one thing, campus? eh...

I obviously don't endorse killing anyone or anything of that nature but guys that'll try and jack a car at gunpoint usually aren't the brightest. a real car thief you'll never even know was around...until your car is gone. I've heard the logic behind both cases, and dying isn't worth protecting your car...but there are many ways to get around the situation, not to mention the TL isn't the slowest car in the world.

if you carry a gun in your car, just use your head. I think that is the best advice you could ever give a carrier

justnspace 05-25-2011 01:09 PM

how many times have there been a gunman on campus?
Just think, if the law was passed earlier, those UT gunmen wouldnt have made it so far.

actright 05-25-2011 01:40 PM

im going to have to pickup a glock 40

actright 05-25-2011 03:37 PM

did the cop inspect your gun, or did he only want to speak to you when you were away from your gun?

Please move to Ramblings..full retard potential high..

tomf 05-25-2011 04:13 PM

Michigan has an open carry policy - most citizens in the state don't know that.. I'm with 01tl4tl - check with the local authority.. You dont need an attorney, just call the county sheriff and the local pd and find out what you can or cant do. BTW - get a judge !

silvertl510 05-25-2011 05:03 PM

the way this thread is going it should be moved to rambling.... unless people answer the op question to where he can make a custom stash spot for his gun.

Sperry 05-25-2011 06:19 PM

It is illegal to carry a concealed weapon in California without a CCW.
The "stash place" would constitute concealed.

Nola2000TL 05-25-2011 06:56 PM

They inspect it and run the serial number to see if it comes up stolen, etc.

01tl4tl 05-25-2011 07:08 PM

`open storage` (stash) could be the center panel where the obdi plugs in - behind the shifter--the butt would stick out--but in Ca you are going to jail regardless~

note in general - do NOT get out of the car!!- that makes the cop think you are going to run or turn on them with a gun!! happens every single day somewhere in the usa

both hands on the steering wheel --until they tell you otherwise- is the safe thing if ever stopped,,
for those with legal weapons- then you immediatly disclose it,, and wait to be told to exit the vehicle so they can secure the weapon
Ca cops are extra jumpy- been too many gunned down on simple traffic stops
Act like you are armed or on drugs,,, and its `meet the pavement with your face`, Sir

01tl4tl 05-25-2011 07:11 PM

all this reminds me of a great song by comedy musician Otis Lee Crenshaw called
`Do what you want to the Girl, Just dont hurt ME!`

Karanx7 05-26-2011 12:52 AM

Honestly, you shouldn't carry a gun unless your are mentally prepared to shoot and kill someone. If your not willing to do so, then your basically carrying an unloaded gun, which is one of the stupidest things you could do.
