WDP Type S Progress Thread..better late than never!!

so i've had my 2008 wdp 6 mt type s for a little over 3 years now and never made a progress thread...so here is my shot at giving the history of my car so far and showing how it's come along.

i wanted a WDP with black interior in a stickshift, but my inside contact said there were only 3 left on the west coast back in May 2008 and the closest was 600 miles away.

so i went on az before buying the car and princelybug was nice enough to let me test drive his 6MT so i could decide if i wanted to fly 600 miles to Northern California to buy 1 of the last 3 WDP with a stickshift (I love and only want to drive MTs). i fell in love with the MT, flew up to San Jose in June 2008 and purchased a brand new WDP/black interior MT that only had 3 miles on it!!! big thanks to az and princelybug before I even had a TL haha!

i will update this thread quite a bit in the next few weeks with all the things I have done, but wanted to track it all on here...enjoy!

first thing done was 20% back tint and 50% front tint (the black interior makes them seem darker and I didn't want to make it easy to get tickets for the front tint)

and to keep me sane at night...

thanks Steven..I only use that lock sometimes, mainly when I first got it cuz I was so paranoid haha. plus it was ingrained in me by my family...but it's always a talking point when people see it laying in my car haha

Sockr, for the outside, you might consider an Aspec Kit and a roof spoiler. They both make a big difference.

Nice!

As per this picture:

I have that same discoloration between bumper/quarter. Sometimes it seems like it's not there others there it is. lol

It's comforting to see it on one brand new so I can stop thinking I'm crazy. lol

Wish they could match the paint between plastic/metal surfaces.

TL's are not the only car with the discoloration. Pretty funny to me. lol

I thought mine was involved in an accident (mismatched bumper WDP)! Probably was LOL! I hate it though, it stands out to me like a whore in church. I want to take it to a body shop to have it matched better.

LED lights, illuminated door sills, and navi hack start up image

thanks for all the good words so far! i felt i couldn't go wrong with wdp/ebony/6 speed and i didn't!!

so here was the next set of mods after i tinted...went and changed all the interior lighting to LEDs, installed a set of illuminated door sills (got really scared for a second when all power went out temporarily in my brand new car haha), and added a start up image.

passengers love all 3 and always give me compliments...well worth the money! when they see a personalized start up image they are always like whaaaat

some pics after painting activities...

wanted to post some pics after i did some painting. i painted all the engine bay covers with a gloss black and a clear coat (all high temp). I also filled in the gray painted area on the main engine cover with black. added an acura sticker from ebay to the strut bar...i love the look every time i open the hood!

kept looking at my ugly rear calipers and decided they needed to be painted to match the front black brembos (please ignore all the rust, i need to clean that up still!)

before painting:

after painting (dupli color brush on caliper paint kit..didn't want to mess with disassembling the calipers):

thanks everyone! there will definitely be more pics to come since I haven't posted about the Progress RSB, my DRL LED conversion, or my spacer setup (fronts are installed and installing rears this upcoming weekend).

i also have an xlr8 j pipe and res quad exhaust on order but it just hasn't come in yet..i'm SUPER excited for those. stay tuned!

thanks! i was just bored one weekend so i decided to give it a try. i've never taken apart brakes before so I just got the brush on kit. it's not perfect but definitely better looking than the old metal look. you should give it a shot after winter for sure

more updates!!

so here are some more updates on my type s....this update includes painting my license plate frame, shaved door handle mod, aluminum dead pedal, and comptech short shifter with skunk2 billet knob...enjoy and thanks for looking

got a fix it ticket for no front plates in downtown SD and almost got busted for my tint at the same time, so i decided to put on plates but at least paint the frame white so it doesn't stick out so bad:

shaved door handle mod...replaced front driver end cap with one that covers up the key hole. i also placed a hide away box on my car that contains an eyeglass screwdriver and a back up key fob battery, so if my remote ever dies i can replace the battery and get into my car (ie not locked out) or use the screwdriver to pop off the end cap

aluminum dead pedal from supercomputers:

installed the comptech short shifter and the skunk2 billet knob. the shift knob was much heavier (awesome) and darker in color than i had imagined...it goes great with the ebony/red interior theme

this made me very nervous haha

the actual ss

some linkages and bolts were impossible to remove so i had to do this all in my car

new and old shift knobs

installed!

i repositioned it after this to look better

i absolutely love it, aesthetics and functionality..worth every penny!

unless you mean reverse lights for the back up camera? in that case they are the 18 LED reverse lights (new version is 19 LED) from v-leds.com

all 2008 type s cars come stock with a camera. check out this link from edmunds, which quotes "If the TL has a particular forte, it's value. A package that bundles a voice-activated navigation system (with real-time traffic information) and a rearview camera is the lone option on the base car (standard on the Type-S":
