Type-S is finally home!
Hello fellow acuraziners!
After months of searching and much disappointment in finding a clean & well-taken for TL-S that meets all my requirements, I finally picked up a Type-S from another zine member finished in WDP with a 6MT last week. Car only has a 120km & pretty much shows brand new. I just have a couple of questions,
1) Should I put GM Syncromesh FM even though all my tranny is perfectly fine to prevent future damage?
2) Periodically the "tighten gas cap" light comes & goes. I've read about a replacement of a part in the EVAP system but is it okay if I just leave it as is?
Thanks!
Here are some pics of the new ride

Congrats on the new TL! Do you have any idea what fluid is in the transmission now or when it was last changed? If you have no idea I'd go ahead and do it for peace of mind. If it has new/good fluid in it already I wouldn't worry about about it unless you are getting grinding when shifting into 3rd.

That WDP looks amazing!
I definitely would go with the Synchromesh. I've put it in two different TL's and had amazing results. I'll probably pick it up soon for my current one as well.
I suppose you can leave the gas cap issue the way it is if you wanted, but it takes about 15 minutes and $100 in parts to fix. What you need is the Evap purge control valve. I think I paid $109 for it at the dealer and its never thrown the error message at me again.

Thank you everyone!
The MT fluid in it currently is regular Honda stuff and I believe it was changed not too long ago. Maybe I'll do a switch to GM syncromesh FM if it will save my 3rd gear syncro in the long-run.
Glad to finally be a part of the Acurazine community

It's my dd, but have a short commute and just rolled 55K. Just regular maintenance so far. Oil changes, front brakes and battery (replaced under warranty). I also did fluids (antifreeze, power steering, brake and tranny) based on age just being proactive.

congrats and welcome! you'll love that car...almost too much haha
mine's my DD and i started with 4 miles on it back in 2008 and now have 96000, and have loved every mile.
- that GM synchromesh makes a huge difference even if you don't have 3rd gear issues, you should do it as soon as you can
- i haven't done the EVAP valve yet, but i may have to as my warnings have become more consistent (5 times in last week alone), used to be every few months

thank your sir!
haha thank you! btw love your build, it was one of the builds that helped pushed me into getting a TL-S, especially in WDP. I'm already in love with the car, I do not see it leaving my hands any time soon since I've always wanted one and I've already got some plans with the car.
Really eh? I guess I'll have to grab a couple bottles and get that done sometime when I do the other fluid changes.
I haven't had it pop up in a week or so but if I get annoyed or if it starts popping up more often maybe I'll get to it, doesn't seem to hard of a job to do

Decided to post some more pictures, even though they were all just taken with my phone so bare with me. Car hasn't seen any updates other than simple maintenance items & 2500k DRL's. Hopefully I can get the ball rolling next summer as it's starting to get cold out & I'm too busy atm. Can't get enough of this car!

represent!
I'm at a lost atm, its so damn confusing especially with the fitment issues of the base lip that I have realized. Regardless I'm going to have re-paint my front (even though I only have 2 stone-chips....) & rear bumper so that the lip will match up. I'm torn between the two lips. On one hand the base lip is very subtle & would go very well with the OEM+ route I plan to go with the car but I don't know how much it would cost to mold the lip because I'm not sure I would be able to live with the gap. On the other hand the Type-S lip used to be a bit much for me but it has grown on me alot plus its a direct installation with perfect fit & looks really nice once the car is lowered & has spacers (on stock waffles anyways). I'll be making my decision probably by the end of spring. Have you decided on which way you want to go yet?
thanks
Haha thank you! It's my second favorite with KBP at #1. Only gripe about it is the shitty mismatch going on (hardly noticeable but I notice everything).
thanks FamilyGuy!

hands down my favorite color although it supposedly suffers the same bumper issue with color mismatch. damn flex additive that affected shade in the sun/shade?
well, just remember that over time, you stop looking as much at the little bs that makes you lose sleep now and you just sit back and enjoy her as a whole (or hole, if you're into that).

The whole mismatch I can deal with right now isn't bad & I can deal with it. The only thing is when I get the a-spec kit it will amplify the mismatch.
Btw, out of curiosity I'm wondering if I bought a-spec side skirts & installed it now, would it look weird? Cause my driver side skirt is a bit tweaked right at the end thanks to a curb the front bumper already hangs a bit low so I was sort of thinking it may match...
