Ok, so my clutch pedal started wearing past the rubber to underlying metal and since I don't need much of an excuse for a reasonably priced mod. I contacted Unique Style Racing for a set of aluminum engraved pedals.
Quality was amazing. Feel is great, can't wait to drive yesterday.
Install took about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
I thought the brake/clutch would be the toughest, but they weren't at all since you can actually get to the back of the pedal to feel to put the washer/nut on. Take off rubbers, line up new one using the top and sides as a guide. Then mark with a sharpee...then start off with a small bit to prevent "walking" (since metal is too hard and it moves you can't really use a tap set) and to make it easier to get thru. Gradually up the size a little at a time until you can get a bolt thru.
Easy enough. Rear bolts are 6MM...so if you have a socket that size and a 1/4" socket wrench. You'll be happy.
The accelerator on the other hand, probably ate up 30 minutes of the install. I tried taping the nut and washer to my finger tip, no dice. Then I figured it out...put the nut INTO the socket since it holds it straight...then I used 2 tiny pieces of painters tape to hold the washer onto the socket (perfectly lined up the holes of the nut and washer)...worked like a charm. Also, do the top 2 first so you can wiggle the peddle up and down to get the angle you need.
Overall, super happy...they look amazing. It's the little things and details that really set your car apart from others.
Enjoy...

for the price he gave me, I wouldn't go any other route. Great product!

Congrats Jeremy! I'm glad you went that route and didn't make the mistake of getting the eBay pedals.
#369
Thanks guys, very much. Yeah, sometimes I stray and go back to my old, frugal ways, but then I have you all to lead me back to the light. Glad I went this route too. The guy gave me a killer deal. When I've tried so hard to keep the car looking good, and not cheap with my mods, it would have been silly to save a few bucks. This looks OEM, to me.

Thanks guys...very much. VERY happy...
I was asked not to divulge but if you contact Simon from USR and tell him Jeremy sent you, I'm sure he'll give you the same price. Trust me, it's worth the call/email.
Check out this thread for contact info etc.

posted elsewhere in the forum, but I like to keep my progress thread up to date.
So...2004 TL. Hot Florida sun...
Been reading about the horror stories and cracking dashes so I preemptively babied the dang thing...303 on it...and sunshade all day at work. So sure enough, yesterday FORGOT to put it up and there's a crack.
Cute.
Fiance got some ideas from an RL forum elsewhere on the web and I applied it. Worked well...
taped off the area so only the cut shows and apply some silicone caulk (or cock depending on where you're from and how big the crack is):
then I worked it in with my finger...it retracts a little as it dries so leave the excess, I used a razor and lightly skimmed the excess. Had to come back and do it again. The black bathroom silicone from HD that I had actually matches pretty well. I used my finger motions to try and leave a little texture as the dash is obviously not totally smooth.
I missed a spot so after removing the tape I put a dab on my finger and filled it in...as it dries you can actually use your finger to kinda remove the excess in to little balls that you can blow off the dash.
From a distance, is there a crack, who knows...there's something but it's a LOT less obvious IMO.

also in the heat, I noticed the hot glue I had used didn't hold up so well to holding up my tweeter, both of them had sunken into the dash. Had to leave it out and let it warm back up to pry them out and then I used a blade to remove the excess glue and I drilled a little hold and ran a wire to hold them in place from the bottom.

Sounds like I'm not the only one who's having a rough go of it with my car right now. Sorry to hear about your dash but damn that's a great idea!

Thanks man...
Yeah, is it just me, or is it when I choose to mod the car, all is well, I run into self caused problems to fix.
But then when I kick back and decide to just enjoy the car and not mod for a while, I get a slew of shit that needs to be fixed.
Another I forgot to mention was I didn't affix the deadener on one door too well so in the heat it fell and got stuck against the window. An easy 20 minute fix but still... it never ends!
At least the car challenges my ingenuity and feeble attempts at engineering.

Yeah a little heavy on the editing. Remember, simplicity is always best.
What kind of DSLR were you using? The 2nd to last picture is effing dope.

It's a Canon 30D! I'm working on it, I like it heavily edited to a certain degree...I love HDRish pictures but I see that there is a balance to looking cool and realistic and looking like a cartoon. I'll get there...first set of pics, pretty much.
PS...thanks for the compliment!
The least touched up one then, huh?!?! I do love that one too!

Yeah man, it's so annoying, I actually have a different set of tire shine gel I use during the summer that won't come off with rain vs. the less sticky one I use for the winter. Whatever...it is what it is. I guess better some rain than have to drive thru snow and salt.

LOL...all good, man! PS...guess who WISHES he could live in Cali!
THIS GUY RIGHT HERE...San Diego all day long. I wish...perfect weather, nice people, can drive to beach OR mountains. What more can a guy want? One day I have a feeling I'll end up there!
Ok, so today, backing into a spot at jury duty...I figured I'd hit the parking bump before i hit the metal pole sticking up...WRONG. MAN, I hit it hard...dented Aspec. Oh well, I've convinced myself that all these little things are just battle scars and give the car character!
Touched it up a bit so not too noticeable...also, noticed my right rear tire is eating up on the inside. Dammit...those morons at tire kingdom don't know what the f*** they are doing. Since I'm going to have to swing by again anyway and get it REaligned, decided I'd lower the car a bit more, just to see. I'm seriously considering removing the camber kits to have the car sit and handle the way it naturally wants to. Not sure about it yet though. Pretty happy with the drop though...lowered it about more than 1/4" more of threads. Sitting LOW now.
I'll get some shots soon.

Damn Jeremy that sucks dude! It just doesn't end for us does it?
Can't you just adjust the camber kit instead of having it removed? Let it run -2.5 or something like that and just have the toe corrected.

Haa, we all wish we could live in Cali........where the cost of living is sky high and fuel is WAY over $4.00 a gallon. I just saw regular gas today for $3.65.
This has been a wet Spring. I just got new !uick Detailing Spray by Griot's Garage and it hasn't stayed on the Type S for more than a day....it's all good though. I love cleaning my car!
Come on Swoosh-KC isn't that bad. Besides, you'd miss me and Buda if you lived somewhere else!

Whatever, just frustrated, I guess I won't remove the camber kits...that would be stupid. At least they are MOSTlY wearing evenly. Actually..just looked at the car...with the Tein's almost all the way down. MAN does that look good. I'll take some pics today or tomorrow if i think of it. There IS a HEAT game you all know!

at least we have the Miami Heat and Key Biscayne and Coral Gables and Downtown and the Grove.
and you think these are nicer? We'll have to compare next time we see each other...got a canon30D now so I'm trying to learn how to take nice pics.
Thanks man...love em! Seriously...and another benefit I didnt' think of till yesterday...since your foot only makes contact with the rubber nubs...you actually don't feel as much engine vibration and feedback when cruising on the highway. Sweet!
i DO love em...thank you very much!
