PS, you convinced me...this will be my next mod. I need to order a couple of sets too...for me, and my fiancee!
Awesome pics...I guess moreso than it not being full brightness, my concern would be, whether or not the blinking adversely affects the starter for the CCFL's.
I guess not since Lexus just put them on the car, huh?!!
Did you by any chance make a DIY at all?
J.

Yeap!
They're a notch brighter than the LEDs that I was running, so no major difference except colour and intensity heheh
Do it!
The awesome part is they're cheap haha - especially for you guys since shipping's free.
My project ended up costing $15 for the cold cathodes, $9 for the double sided tape, and another $9 for the reflective tape.
My buddy shtewps been running his cold cathodes for two years with no problems =)
Forgot to mention big props to him for guiding me through the install over gTalk!
It should be okay though. The inverter's not really a ballast. It's more of a power conversion device to power the cold cathodes heheh
I didn't make a DIY, because the install's relatively easy, but if you want I could make one!
Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea to make one at all.

To keep the water out, I used the plastic case that the cold cathodes came in.
Then I used double sided tape to seal the plastic to the opening.

Haha I would never do red.
1. Because it's illegal
2. Not as bright or clean looking as white
It would be cool to photoshop what red would look like though haha
tyty
I don't think there's a rule...
Mainly what colour it is, is a rule.
Cops can see your license plate better

I was wondering as far as your trunk cathode tubes go. After installing mine in my license plate area a while ago, I noticed it takes a while for them to get to optimal brightness. Is there anything you did to your trunk tubes, or just hook them up like you did to your license plate? I figured by the time you find what you're looking for in your trunk they'll never have the chance to warm up.

I'm still waiting on my replacement tubes because all_city sent me UV tubes
I see what you mean, about the time it takes to warm up.
I guess I'll just buy some bright LEDs from a local guy.

This is from couple years back and I hope my memory is not betraying me.....
Buda (from KC) installed these and put some silver/metal foil behind the tubes....this helped reflect all the light ahead and made em really bright and the color was "crisper" as well....
not that GP's CC's are not bright enough but just throwing it out there....
EDIT: GP do you get the buzzing noise from these ? I have heard couple people saying the CC's make that annoying buzzing noise...

Here's a comparison pic I found:
I think mine matches the TL on the right with reflective tape woot
Means my reflective tape is doing its job =)
I don't hear a buzz from my cold cathodes =)

I need to come up with more original mods heheh
It's hard to tell with a point and shoot camera lol.
Only real way to tell is to have both cars side by side lmao
I do feel it's really bright though and the beam on the ground is pretty intense like the TL on the right.

Oooo I know: I'll make a DIY for cold cathode license plate lights AND trunk lights.
All_City told me they already shipped my white replacement bulbs to replace the UV ones.

All_city stayed true to their word and I received my WHITE cold cathode bulbs today!
Didn't even ask me to return the UV tubes LOL
Leaving positive feedback, and installing trunk cold cathodes tonight!
