Just bought my footwell LEDs

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...ht_4234wt_1163

Supposedly this listing DOES ship worldwide haha.

How do you guys think I should wire them?

1. When ANY door is open, they all turn on.
2. Have the footwell LED turn on only for the door that is opened.
3. Any front door open, turn on both the front footwells, any back door open, turn on both the back footwells.

I'm leaning more towards option 3.

What do you guys think?

^^^ LOL those are your options ? LOL

1> I dont think you can do that....
2> Yes....that is a good option....and very very easy....the wire just goes to the door switch
3> I dont think you can do that either....

In option 1 and 3 you will have to wire 1 LED module to more than 1 switch....so if both the doors are open you will be pumping a lot of current thro both the led bars....

have you considered the following options as well:
4> kill switch....turn on and off as you will....so you can wire the LED's to door switch and have another kill switch....so if you dont want them to come on with the door's just flip the switch....
5> kill switch....turn on and off as you will....wired to fuse #32....so they are ON all the time and you can turn em on and off as you will
6> fuse #32....ON ALL THE TIME.....
7> wired to the console....MAX brightness button....so you can use the console buttons to control the brightness....so looks like it came STOCK....

I had option 5....went to option 6....and now am trying to do option 7 LOL....

^^^That's how I have mine, although they are a subtle single led that mimics the intensity of the map light mood lighting...blue all around, under dash up front and under seats...wired in parallel...then tapped a wire from my parking lights wire to a toggle switch. If I leave it ON, they just come on when I turn on parking lights but I have option to switch off at all times.

Actually thinking of running some wires into the bay to put in an on/off switch for my DRL module...sometimes I feel like yellow light coming from my oem fogs as DRL's and sometimes I like the crisp white of parking lights or NOTHING AT ALL>

Damn I never knew you had footwell LEDS lol

I might just wire all 4 together and tap into the domes.

Just be careful...pretty sure the domes are wired up to the multiplex unit...which is sensitive and if fried, an expensive fix. I lost my driver door courtesy light to a short I caused in it...not worth the fix but I wish I hadn't.

I did my fronts to

any front door that opens my 2 front will turn on.

I'm debating if I even want to do footwells in the back of my 6.

Jeremy did you order that CCFL?

Honestly, I don't see why any of these options wouldn't be possible....

1. Tap all LED's to the dome power.
2 .Tap each LED to the corresponding door power switch (as swoosh mentioned).
3. Wire both front LED's to the front driver AND passenger door power switch (that way if either front door is opened, the front LED's illuminate. Same with the rears...wire both rear LED's to both rear door switches. This option uses a lot more wiring, but should be feasible.

am not saying its Impossible....what i meant John is, you will have to wire multiple led's to multiple places.....

i dont know how much power the dome unit sucks and to wire multiple LED strips to the dome unit in my head didnt make too much sense....

i wish there was a little module, like an AND gate we guys could use....that would be optimal

You just tap the LED's into the interior (dome) lights' 12v source at the fuse panel. You don't literally run wire to the dome lights. I'm sure you knew that...just wanted to be clear.

Also, if your dome/interior lights are already LED's, then very little power should be "sucked".

^add a fuse?

i didn't want to tap into that bc then the puddle lights would be on whenever the car was.

^ Depends on which fuse you tap into. If you tap into the interior light fuse, power will only be triggered when a door is open...which I assume is only time you want the puddle lights on..?

If you can guide me through how to do number 3 I would give you a million kudos lol

How would I wire it two triggers, exactly?

If I can't do option #3 I'm just gonna tap into the fuse 6 (dome lights?) or tap into the wire indicated on this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/puddle-light-wiring-up-schematics-detailed-pics-835659/

What's the difference anyway?

About the damage my car incurred on the freeway...

I was driving down the freeway, in the middle lane.
The 300C infront runs over what looked like a metal ladder , but it ended up being something plastic and HARD. Well, you guessed it.
Hard plastic pieces all came flying into my car.

I'm not trying to blame the car infront.
They tried to swerve into the other lane to dodge the thing, and that's how I saw the debris, when they moved over a little lol
They were blocked in or something and it was too late.

It was pretty loud. A piece managed to smack the windshield which scared me the most.

So I pulled over, and checked out the damage to the front.

I didn't see any.

Then I got home and noticed my driver's side is all scratched and paint chipped, and I got creased dents (front the road debris that smoked my car).

The A-Spec sideskirt is scuffed and scratched, and I have many random scratches on my roof (probably the piece that smacked my windshield and deflected along my roof?). IDK. There was like 10 pieces that came flying into my car. Scratch on the side of my rear bumper.

It's RANDOM as hell where the damages happened because like 10 thigns hit my car.

It's not like "oh, a piece of wood kicked up and hit my door". Man, damages are everywhere and random.

Pics soon...

Wow...I'm really sorry to hear that, man. Let's see some pics. I hope it's fixable.

PS...about messing around with using fuse 6...be VERY careful as that fuse is linked to the multiplex control unit and if you short it out, it's a very expensive and PITA piece to fix. I would absolutely NOT touch fuse 6 for any of our mods. It is also the fuse for keyless entry, dome lights, alarm...the list goes on.

Ah, thanks for the warning!

I guess I'll just ask Roger555.
He's been very helpful and a huge part of the success of my car lol
From Accord fogs, to blacking out headlights, to now footwell lighting lol
He knows his stuff!

As for the damage, definitely fixable.
The dent I can't fix myself, though.
As for the paint chip and scratches, I could probably use touchup paint.
I could also try buffing most of it out. We'll see. Way to cold to do anything right now, though.

Oh, and check the 3G TL general forum for my DIY.

Ok, will look for it. Thanks man...

Yeah, I mean, I'm sure you CAN use FUSE #6 but I had a short in the courtesy light that I caused when running my wires and MAN, what a PITA...fuse 6 wouldn't hold a fuse it would just pop and I'd lose everything...2 days with no keyless/lights/alarm etc...finally I jumpered it out and fried the short circuit in the multiplex permanently. Oh well.

sorry about the accident mishap. i know the feeling. something similar happened to me while driving behind a semi truck, it kicked up some freeway debris that i couldnt avoid damaging my front bumper. needless to say it needs to be repainted.

cold cathodes look nice! the foil tape is the key. i guess you managed to see the DIY link before it expired. it was one of my first mods on my 07. easy and cheap.
