Indeed we do.
Unfortunately I wasn't granted the opportunities or the "ok" to do so when I was his age. I'm only 25 so I still have a pretty good amount of time to learn :P
Still, very impressive of someone so young. Especially in a generation of "phone zombies".

Luke here has a good hobby and it has to do with keeping his car in top shape, not a bad hobby at all.
Guess we're the "babies" when it comes to car DIYs compared to him huh?
I see you have an s2000, I miss mine....

Well, I may or may not have been tinkering with cars since he was like 3 years old...
I guess I should say that I am capable of what he does, but I don't have the desire to research or spend as much time doing it perfectly like him.
Helps that he has a garage and has probably been tinkering on ATV's since he was a toddler!
Yes sir, I can see why you'd miss your S. It's a special car...I love my TL, but in a short 6 months I've grown to love my S just as much.

Yeah I had a valve issue with my S, so I sold it. Used that money to pick up the TL. Had it for about 6yrs and it was a very special car, just didn't drive it as much as I thought I would so had almost no problems letting it go either.

I just got done going through this whole thread and I am at a lost for words. Just wow...
I can't believe how young you are and have so much knowledge and no fear of tackling just about any maintenance your car required. Seriously, it's impressive and I wish I had the tools, the knowledge, and the guts to do the same with my car.
You been through alot with your car and I'm glad you can finally really enjoy it the way you intended. One of the cleanest looking TLs I've seen and you're definitely one of the most knowledgeable car people I've encountered.

Wow, thanks guys. I really do appreciate the kind words! I try my best.
But I definitely wouldn't consider Jeremy a "baby" when it comes to DIY work. After all, he did beat me in the Car Of The Month contest not too long ago. You can be sure that won't happen again though. Now, that I'm a 6MT, the playing field has been leveled, my friend . I challenge you to a rematch in the very near future.
Also, believe it or not, I never "modded" or did any sort custom work like this before I got the TL. I was probably too busy sitting on the couch playing Xbox back then.
I have a new update for this thread that I'll be posting soon. It's nothing big; don't get too excited .

Well, I can't claim that...
first car I modded was my 4th car, my 1997 Accord, then a little on the EP3, then a little on my RSX, then a LOT on my TL.
Hahah...
I was too cheap and had zero knowledge although my buddy's used to work on fox body mustangs in hs.
Thanks Luke...you'll win the COTM this go around since I won't even enter
If I do I MIGHT see about a double 6MT honda entry and do both the S2000 AND TL in one entry! BAM!!!
hahaha...seriously though, I won it on a sham, my short time in the limelight is done and I'm perfectly fine with it. A has been, but I keep her clean though.

I wish I had pictures of all the cars I've owned.
I didn't really start "really" getting into cars until I got my Type S and came here.

1. I thought the big projects were over after the tranny swap, but apparently not. I've always noticed a little bit of oil around the drain plug on my oil pan, so I knew the threads were probably a little weak (not surprising on an aluminum pan that's 10 years old). It was never really an issue, but I must have finished it off the last time I changed my oil, because ever since then it actually dripped (slowly). I decided not to use an oversized drain plug like so many do after stripping the threads (I've heard those only create more problems in the future), and instead, decided to just replace the whole oil pan. I completely forgot about this when I had the engine yanked out for the tranny swap. That would have been the PERFECT time to have this done (along with a few other things).
Replacing the oil pan was probably the hardest job I've personally done to the car. It would have been so easy if it weren't for the subframe being in the way. It's really tricky maneuvering the pan up into position, and you only have a few minutes after you put the Hondabond on the bottom of the crank before it starts drying. So I had to practice a few times. I used Redline 5w-30 and an S2000 Royal Purple filter (just for you, Jeremy )
Old Pan
New Pan (it's beautiful)
I cleaned up the area as much as I could (even though it probably looks like this again already).
Installing. This was the magic starting position. I took pictures and videos for myself so I wouldn't forget.
Done.
After that job, I've learned my lesson about over tightening bolts; from now on, I will torque EVERY single bolt to spec (assuming one is provided). I bought this awesome little tool from Harbor Freight. It's so easy to use, and the reviews were great. Numerous people benchmarked it against their $500+ torque wrenches, and it was almost dead on.
2. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to buy the XLR8 Engine Torque Damper (ETD) to smooth my shifting and keep the engine firmly planted. Well, I did. And I also bought the rear engine bracket from a 6MT that allows me to use it. I spent about 4 hours replacing that bracket, and as soon as I went to install the damper, I was horrified to find that my car does not have the THIRD hole that is required to use the ETD. Every thread I read said that the 3rd hole was present on 5ATs and 6MTs, and it was only the 2 holes on the engine bracket that the 5AT lacked. Not in my case! This third hole is supposed to be located on the rear engine mount base (what the mount bolts onto). From the looks of it, I think it would be impossible to replace without dropping the subframe (not gonna happen!). So I tried the alternative route of drilling my own hole in the existing base. It was an extremely tight area to work in, and I had to go out and buy a right angle drill attachment. Even with that, it was just impossible to do. It didn't hurt to try (except for wasted time), but it just wasn't happening. So, unfortunately, I returned the ETD. I would like to warn all 5AT owners to CONFIRM that you have the 3rd hole before ordering the ETD. I can't believe I did not check this myself before replacing that bracket. Oh well! I really wanted the ETD, but now that I think about it, all the people raving about the benefits from it are probably running on stock (possibly broken) motor mounts. I have XLR8 poly mounts, so the improvements may not have been that noticeable for me anyways. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.
3. One of my original HID bulbs finally burned out, so I replaced them with CBIs. They look really good, and I'm hoping they will look even better after they break-in and colorshift a bit. My brother's CBIs match his LEDs perfectly, so I'm hoping mine will do the same.
4. REDONK had ran its course; It was time for something new. I think this one is pretty fitting. The single "Y" was taken. I debated tracking down the owner and paying him to change it, but I figured this will do.
Random Pics:
I know my wheels can look black in the pictures sometimes, but they really aren't. They have an especially cool color when it's raining out. The front center cap is off because I need to replace that axle nut still.
I did a full detail on the car today (interior and exterior). I still don't believe this car is 10+ years old. You will never convince me!
White Pearl Powah (but his car is incredibly slow )
I'm still lovin' these LEDs (or as I like to call them, Frosty Fogs)! If you haven't seen my review for them already, it can be found HERE.

Dude, I just read this whole thread and as a former 3G owner I have to say God damn good work! I am INCREDIBLY impressed with your attention to detail and the amount of maintenance you are doing. There are very few people your age or any age for that matter, that do all the maintenance and have the patience to be so precise.
Great, great work! Completely random but I came across my window roll up module the other day while cleaning my place, if I can find it again and you want it, let me know. I modded my CL when I was 17 and always appreciate the help of others on here so I'll donate to the cause but the roll up and iPod integration is all I have left from my TL

Love seeing all the hard work you put in pay off. And be nice to that little Honda. They've got the HPD supercharger at dealers now that definitely make the car more exciting.

Thanks for the offer! I'll definitely take that window roll-up module off your hands if you don't want it. That's one mod I just never got around to. Send me a private message so I can PayPal you for the shipping.
Stay Frosty, indeed!

I believe they are the only one that Honda has kit for. Here's a couple links if you're interested.

My buddy and I went out last night to take some pics of my car using his REAL camera gear. This is the first time the car has ever been photographed using anything other than an iPhone. I'm actually quite pleased with how they turned out!
There is also some bad news that I discovered shortly after this shoot. I'll share the details once I know more, but the car is not being driven at this point. It never ends!
CHEEZ!
