A photo from when I was on call last weekend. One of my colleagues has a nice LS460. I have always loved this generation of LS, it's great-looking and has a certain presence on the road. The RLX fits right in to the luxurious look here and has its own road presence.
I reposted my Google-hosted picture and uploaded another to AZ itself in case people still can't see it. Usually the Goog works fine and I can see the image clearly, but when trying on another browser not signed into AZ, the image won't load. Odd.

It is the way vBulletin is set up in admincp for this particular site.

And agree. I always liked the LS and find the RLX on par on the exterior if not a bit more modern. The interior of the LS is certainly a step up, but I prefer the RLX styling over Lexus's current interior design trend. Drive these cars side by side and you will clearly determine if you are a Toyota person or Honda. As much as I like the LS, I could never justify it's cost configured as I desired.
An LS460 configured thoroughly can get up around 120K.
But the quality is so high, and the car's so reliable, that if you really want a car like that, you're going to be hard put finding one that competes with it at that price.
As hard it is for us little 66K people to consider, the 120K LS460 is a bargain if you're looking for that kind of car.

We have 4 Lexus in our family. A GS that the tranny failed at 21K miles. An LS where the 8 speed tranny disintegrated in normal driving (yes, disintegrated) at 4K miles. And an ES where the engine was replaced due to a sludge issue with 32K miles. The RX interior is not wearing well @ 18 months and 7K miles.
No car is perfect, but I will gladly take the gamble and save $50-60K for what feels to me as a slightly nicer LS over my RLX. That is ultimately what kept me from driving a German car as well. That is my experience, and last I checked it holds more weight than the opinion of another.
Thanks for the pic comparison. The LS is nice for sure, but your RLX makes the Lexus look quite dated in its styling. Those who complain about the RLX's styling are not very credible in my opinion.

Where the LS460 shines is when you examine the quality of the vehicle in detail, and realize that you're talking about cars costing twice as much to equal what you're getting in the LS460.
Factor in the Lexus reliability against Bentley, and the choice is obvious unless you're trying to make some kind of statement.
I'd type quite a bit more, based on my personal experience...but when people express themselves as absolutely as they have expressed themselves in this thread, there is clearly little point.
This past weekend I pulled up alongside an Equus - another car I briefly considered before pulling the trigger on the RLX.
Although the Equus is a fine vehicle, as I walked away and turned around - I do believe the RLX is the sleeker/more modern looking of the two... The Equus looks too similar to the Genesis - just an elongated version.

How much refinement are you going to sacrifice for the value?
For the few of us who have bought the USDM RLX, it was the right compromise.
having sat in a '13 LS F sport and the 14 sport hybrid sitting in one of the local showrooms I can sort of make a comparison. The acura as always seems to have just a bit more space in the back (same was true for GS vs TL) and to be honest I preferred the RLX's interior, but that should be obvious haha. I kind of wish the MDX's leather was like the RLX's which I felt was just a tad softer and higher quality

Even so, here are some features of the Equus that are not available in the RLX, and really SHOULD be:
Power door closure
Power trunk lid
Power rear side-window sunshades Cooled rear seats (My 9-year-old would go NUTS over this)
Rear-seat power up/down head restraints with manual tilt
Rear-seat entertainment system with dual 9.2-inch monitors (as an option for the kiddos, or business partners who want to watch a video on the go)
Rear-seat illuminated vanity mirrors
Power lumbar (rear outboard seats)

We have owned 2 previous LS (1997 LS400 and 2003 LS430), before trading it for the current one that my wife drives. My wife has had her LS600h for 7 years. It has been bulletproof. We absolutely love it.
We have also owned previously SC300, SC400, RX330 and a CT200h.
We never had a single problem with any of the Lexus cars. The build quality have been amazing..The CT200h was the worst car (I got the TSX wagon to replace it with). It didn't have quality problems, it just lacked inherent soul.
My wife wants to replace her LS6 and we have been shopping for a year, everything from GS350 to RX400 to TLX to RLX-h. We are waiting for the GS-F to be released before making a decision

I saw a white Genesis last weekend sitting at the Willoughby exit on Vine street (local reference for Bob) and I have to say - I don't know if it was the angle I caught it at or what but it looked like sex on wheels. When I look at the pics on google it looks nice but not special but in person - at first glance - I thought it looked like a high end Audi! I have to admit I felt a little dirty but I couldn't help lusting after it.
If it wasn't for the depreciation factor I would give the Genesis some serious consideration if I were in the market today.

Different design teams in different countries with different ideas.
If you tell people to make it better than a 4G Legend, they're probably looking too much at the 4G Legend and not really thinking about what everybody else is doing.
The JDM team have never really seen the Legend as having much competition.
I've said this in other venue, but I think they build this car to give Honda people a place to go more than to try to drag a Cadillac or Lexus person over to them.
This generation of vehicles, yes, for some reason they decided that tail pipes were not a part of the image.

acura is stubborn in their design...
they still are stubbornly trying to push a sporty sedan in place of a luxury sedan when people have been literally yelling in their face that they want a luxury sedan similar to pretty much every other car brand..
very stubborn company...
new to the business obviously compared to companies lik emercedes that already made their mistakes (and still are making them once in a while) but at least they are listening to customers more
