I got the grille in today I am painting for someone, it needs some work, havent even test fitted it yet, it's fiberglass, all the holes need to be drilled, not sure how it will look once installed because it doesnt have the OEM back mesh panel that makes the grille look seamless where it meets the hood.

ive adjusted it the best i can. still cant get it to fit good.

it goes on straight but once you start to align it, you can see the flaws.

fitment was not great. there was a big gap on top...

not too happy with it, im still not sure if i want to keep it or not.

don't feel obligated to put it on the car just because you bought it, it doesn't look horrible, but would look better painted. Honestly nothing is like the stock grille painted.

@nexson this is the c-mod style grill I Pmed you about a looong time ago

we just got it for TSX too, I feel its a bit empty in the middle though still, needs some horizontal flair

Also, c-mod is pretty great, hes revising the fit of the 2G tsx grille to eliminate our gap because the first few tsx grills had the same problem

Yea - that looks pretty good - hardly much of a gap at all. You can check with the maker but I doubt they'll be able to get it that much closer. Honestly, if you paint it CBP, it will look even better.

That gap isn't that bad at all and once you put that engine cover back on the rubber piece that sits between the grille and the hood you will be be good.

it will be going in for paint soon. got this guy that i know hooking me up to paint my oem grill + this grill + rear trim for 150 (he paints for honda and acura dealers so hes good)

but i have to wait till i have another car to drive around for a few days... since this is my daily.. opportunity doesn't come up often.

also im thinking about having someone custom fab some center lines for the cmod grill

something along the lines of this

but with an angle going down the center. no acura emblem.

Well guys, bad news.

found paint defect throughout my car, there is blotches on every panel.

My friend, who is a professional detailer told me that it is crows feet. I believe another member here had the same thing and had acura repaint the affected areas.

i was just there about 30 mins ago, they did a whole evaluation on the car and advised me that they will be repainting every metal surface on the car. This excludes front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, and hood. (has small chips, and there is no paint defect)

Everything else will be painted. Spoke to the body shop rep, they will be doing a full tear down of the exterior.

This will involve removing front and rear windshields as well as removing door panels and whole door assembly.

I will be dropping off the car on the 25th and will take 3 weeks.

At first they told me it will be painted by Marco's Collision Center. What i assumed i heard was that they said Maaco's. I was innitially shocked, but after confirming that Marco's and Maaco's are two completely different shops and in two completely different leagues in the industry, i was satisfied with the bodyshop they took.

Marco's is a well known body shop here in SoCal. After confirming with a few friends at some dealers, they told me that all their car's go to Marco's for repaint and they do excellent work. Ive done some reasearch myself and found out they have contracts with Honda, Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Mercedez for paint services.

This gives me a piece of mind. As of now, they will give me a rental. i might just ask for a RL or a ZDX if they have one. we will have to wait till the 25th of this month.

honestly that is the only upside..

i will be creating a video to document my interior and exterior to make sure that the dealer does not give me no surprises like "it was there before" or "it was like that"

this will protect me from scratched up interior parts (when taking door panels out, or removing seats, etc) to mus-aligned parts, creeks, or any scratches to the parts that will not be painted.

i will also be taking all my LED bulbs (DRL's, reverse bulb, license plate bulb, and my front switchback bulbs with resistors) or whatever aftermarket i added to the car so that will ensure that what i have given them is a fully functional car with stock parts.

I was wondering why you asked for my ambers. Shoot put back the OEM grill and have them paint it for free.

sucks about the repaint, it will never be the same, but the defects will be gone, nice to see it is covered!

Sorry to hear about that potmilkz...trust me I feel your pain. Since I brought up the issue a few months ago I've heard of several others experiencing it too. Apparently it's due to gas bubbles that got trapped in the paint during the process at the factory...or something like that.

Good luck! At least you get to rack up a few hundred miles on a loaner and will get your car back with essentially a brand new paint job. Hopefully the value doesn't take a big hit.

nah they wont, i already asked them to paint my grill. but they said its not part of the affected area so no.

yea the good thing is that the shop that will do the repaint will do a full strip down of the car including windows, and trims and everything exterior wise..

the funny thing is that i even tried to wetsand the paint down, and still did not do anything to the bubbles in the clear coat..

The bubbles in mine weren't in the clear coat...they were in the base coat. That's why it confused me when I first noticed it because though it looked rough, it felt smooth.

TBH, I think you're way too nice Louis.

If this happened to me, knowing that a fresh new paint will never be able to match the color shade of a 2-year old paint, despite how good the shop is, I would demand that they repaint the whole car. They pretty much already stripped down the car, so what's another front bumper, rear bumper, and sideskirts?

Cross your fingers man they can match the color perfectly. Once you get the car back, check it carefully under the sun.

If it were me, I'd probably ask them to put me in a brand new TL.

How can they sell a defective car? No matter how good the body shop is, it's not from factory. Would this show up on carfax just in case you wanna sell it down the road?

Sorry to hear about your luck man... Regarding Carfax - screw it. Carfax continues to be, and always be one of the biggest rip offs in the used car market. Until consumers wise up and realize that this scam which has no real source of verified information - nor is is regulated -- we have to take "Carfax" as gospel if the car is one owner, or accident free etc etc etc... even through there have been many times they have been proven wrong.
