2010 SH-AWD restoration and progress thread.

Hi

My name is Anton. I'm 26 y.o and today I purchased my first Acura.

It's a 2010 awd that was "totaled" according to insurance and I hate to see such beauty to go to waste, Restore and mod time!

My background. I love working on cars and grew up with friends and family that do the same. This would be me 8th vehicle I purchase with R title and put my blood sweat n tears into. This one isn't a bad hit though so it will be fixed up in no time.

Current ride 07 V6 cpe Accord (not for long)

My best friend and brother:

I think you get the idea in what direction I'm going to go with this one, cant wait to be part of the community and would appreciate you having me. Thank you.

Welcome to AZ! Just looking at what you did on the Accord, I'm sure the TL would be a great once completed.

Btw, what wheels are on the Accord on the left in the last picture?

what was the price on this??? was it in the high 4 digits?

are you going to be doing all the work? or are you outsourcing all your work from shops? frame pulling, welding, body work, etc...

I can't wait to see the progress pics. The Accord is beautiful!

Curious about the price for the totaled TL as well. I think you will be very happy with your renewed TL. SH-AWD is mind blowing!

The left accord has BBS wheels. He got them for a great price as it was their close out item for some reason. 10" all around with a small stretch.

what was the price on this??? was it in the high 4 digits?

I got it on auction for almost $10k. Its run and drive with 29k miles on it.

I'm fortunate enough to have a shop at my disposal that has a lift and a frame puller so i'll be doing all the work with supervision of a family friend that owns the place. So after its all aligned and new parts are fitted it will go to a separate body shop that has all the latest tech to match the paint etc. they also have a rod shop where they do a lot of customer work that's where I will color match the grill (just the basel) and rear molding/bumper insert.

Should be picking up the car from Harrisburg this Monday so will take more pics and come up with a "to-fix" list. After I won the action and was looking over photos I noticed that exhaust is not present...not sure if its damaged or disconnected so it wouldn't drag under it...either way I'm hopping its no where to be found

2012 Rear conversion yes or no? Have about 2 days to make that decision before all the parts are ordered.

Good luck can't wait to see how it turns out. Welcome to Azine! The 2012 rear end is less pointy, however the rear underbody spoiler for the 09-12 looks a lot better. The 2012 underbody spoiler for the rear is 2 pieces on the sides.

Totally NO on the rear... the 09-11 looks way more aggressive and the Lip kit is 1000 times more appealing... The lip kit on the 12 only goes on the sides and doesn't wrap under the bumper looks way to tall plus it doesn't frame the exhaust right... 100% yes on the front tho...

After I asked that question I did some looking around and yes I completely agree on keeping the back. Lip kit on 12 looks a bit out of place. As far as converting the front that's also in the plan but not immediately, back of the car is kinda the focus for now lol.

Car will be here tomorrow, I only have the shop to myself for a week since the owner is going overseas for vacation so it should be ready for paint in a few days. Ill keep you guys posted.

As far as the mod list goes here's whats on to do list chronologically:

FALL 2013

- color matched front grill outline/bazel and back insert
- 35% tint all around
- Takeda intake
- ATLP exhaust
- serious winter tires on stock 18s for the winter (erie, pa winters suck)

SPRING 2014

- lip kit
- rear window spoiler
- coil overs
- camber kit
- fender roll
- 20" CV5 10.5 255/35/20 all around (subject to change)
- 2012 front conversion
- lamin x tails

I'm sure more things will come up as I get more familiar with the car.

Does anyone know if 2012 tails will be a direct fit on 09-11?

Welcome to the forum and i cant wait to see the progression of your TL. The 12' tails will fit on the 09-11. I made that swap and it made my car look 10x better. i would also consider changing the head lights as well.

Thanks guys. Just bought a pair of 2012 tails. Should be here in a few days.

I liked the fact that the edges were blacked out which will make it a smooth transition into the grigio metallic body of the car instead of clear/chrome frame of 09-11.

And yes it all seems to be interchangeable i was just worried about tabs being in different places.

Tomorrow I will snap a few pics of it being worked on.

In before someone tells you the Takeda is just an expensive noise maker! . I have one, too on my Grigio, but the jury is still out on whether I like it, or not.

Frankly, I think my gas mileage has gone up, but performance has weakened a bit.

Got to see the car for the first time today and analyze the damage. No surprises, other then what need to be fixed car is flawless and drove onto the lift. As far as the damage I did have to order a new rear panel (number 30 on the image)

Got a new bumper ordered as well. Was a little disappointed, called to order the bumper they asked wether it has a back up camera and parking sensors or not, so even though its a base i figured since RDX's base come with it this should as well. Called Acura dealer gave them my VIN and thats a negative so looks like thats part of the tech package. Oh well, i lived with that this long I should be alight lol. Everything should be pulled and ready for paint once all the parts get here by Thursday.

Oh and looks like some idiot DID cut the exhaust off, mouse been hovering over buy now button on ATLP website for few hours now
