The insulator rubs on a tiny spot of the piping on my AEM.. Thickest hood insulator I have had on any car if any. Really contemplating ripping that shit out its starting to look nasty
Yeah, it is pretty thick. I can see it crushing quite a bit on the cover when i close the hood. I thought about ripping it off or just getting rid of just that section but the car is still to new to me. Maybe ill just put some clear vinyl on the cf cover.
Very minor issue, yes, but an annoying one that will eat at you whenever you drive the car. considering how much this intake is, this shouldn't be an issue and removing the hoods insulation or even cutting around it would be unaccepted since this is not a cheaply engineered intake.
when you install something other than OEM, it WILL BE LESS RELIABLE. whether it be fitment or performance issues....
to solve your issue, simply remove the useless under hood insulation. no more rubbing. no more complaining. no more time wasted on how you can solve this issue.
when modding anything you need aptitude and the ability to think outside the box.
by thinking inside the box, you wont ever see why or how to solve things.

Anyway, it's the truth, what is your goal? To find a "solution"? The solution is to put the stock intake back in since it was designed to work with the hood insulation and have perfect clearance. Although I do agree that when you pay a lot of money for a modification, you expect to not have to make any adjustments, that's often not the case. If you contact CT-E about a little chaffing you're getting...I'd be shocked if they don't reply with "where exactly are you chaffing, sir"?

Not neccessarily.. Our stock OEM akebono brakes suck major pinga, compared to even much cheaper, more readily available pad/rotor options. My China "Rock Auto" slotted and drilled pad/rotor special was still cheaper than OEM which I switched from due to the rear brakes practically being metal to metal at 19,000 miles. My car now has 100+k miles with the same "rockauto" rotors running strong, pads changed once more since then and crushes the OEM by leaps and bounds performance and longevity wise.
Also, interesting...my wife's old 8th gen accord had the rear inner pads metal on metal problem at 17K on the dot! On the 3rd swap I went with ceramics from autozone and it went a lot longer!

YES, I can remove the insulation or modify it. That's called common sense, not thinking outside the box. However, I will only do that if there are no other solutions or tips from OTHER ICEBOX USERS.
I have contacted ct-e, but in the meantime I would like to hear from other ICEBOX USERS.

Well, honestly, if the CT is touching the insulation, and someone figured out a way to make that stop happening, I'd be happy to hear it...just because it doesn't sound like there'd be another way.
I'm assuming there's no mounting bolt that would allow a little vertical play? Meaning you could unbolt and move the entire assembly down a smidge just so it doesn't touch? For us 3G guys, the heatsoak was so intense removing the insulation to allow better hot air venting under the hood was actually a great thing for us.
What's the finish on the CT box? CF with clear on it? I bet a hand buff with polish will bring the shine back...or maybe place some sort of sticker or even a clear furniture anti scratch pad there to kinda press the insulation up and off the box?

Ive already adjusted the box, ive already put clear protective film over the cover. My retort was out of contempt. Thanks for your solutions
KY jelly helps ridiculously well when it comes to chafing for me. Or if you want to go the organic route, virgin coconut oil does the job in a pinch and you smell like coconuts all day. Highly recommend both.
Yeah both made by CTE. I believe Acura of Lynnwood promotes many of the CTE products, and they had a 2G TSX equipped with all of the CTE goodies, including the icebox and SC.
