I think it will take a few years, ive read that even 2010+ Accord and 2nd gen Fit has also problems with them having different ECUs. I will post here if I get anymore info also as I know a tuner who speak with them on a regular basis.

Please be realistic.
Try comparing the total sales volume of either the Accord or the Fit, with the small-sales-volume 4G TL.
With its limited resources, Hondata will only set priority on the most profit-making vehicle products.

And that's why all Hondata cares about is their money, no reputation fucks are given. Would rather leave the car bone stock, than drop 5k on bolt on's and gain 13 whp. Bolt on's are only for shits and giggles without Hondata for the 4G, and that is why I am selling mine.

Spoke with the homie Rob at my dealer and they are currently having the TLX supercharged by CT Engineering and Hondata has already cracked the TLX ecu. I don't see them back tracking. Mod for what you like. Tune or not. It's not a waste if you enjoy your car.
#328
Considering that the TLX was supposed to be the second coming of the original TSX I can't say I'm surprised that hondata invested in it vs the 4G TL

Not 100% but I'm guessing the AWD as they supercharged the AWD 4G TL as well. I'll have to ask next time I swing by.

So Hondata decides to skip developing products for the 4G TL, then this thread and the long list of potential buyers have zero meaning now.

We've been knowing this unfortunately. They are missing out on money. May not be the biggest market but there is still a market. Sad really because I love my tune on the TSX. Even for a daily.

I hope that isn't true. I don't think sales of TLXs are massive. There is lots of opportunity to buy used 4Gs. I've grown to love the rumble of the 3.7. I cannot wait to delete all the cats.

I'm a new member but been following this thread since it started. Finally got around to creating a account. I brought a 2013 TL-AWD Tech in 2012. I would like to be added to the list even though this might not happen.

I sent an email to these guys expressing my interest and the interest of the forum about the tune.
The response I got was
In conclusion a tune won't be coming to our cars any time soon
Hello
Are you guys working on a tune for the 3.7L engine for the Acura TL Sh-AWD. This engine is fairly powerful as is but more power could be released with a slight tune.
I see that you guys have released a tune for the new 3.5 Accord engine. Why not release one for the 3.7, im sure its not much extra work if you have the CAN bus comm already established. There are many 2009 + TL owners my self included that would be very interested in a tune from you guys there is a forum on Acurazine with many users requesting a tune.
So why leave us hanging?
Are there inherent problems with tuning the 3.7L engine, or did you just decide to turn your back on the 4G TL owners?
Looking Forward To Your Response

It uses a completely different type of ECU. I’m sorry, but there are currently no plans to offer products for this vehicle.

Oh man at least give us a reflash.
I'm thinking if it works, us guys with 09- 11 is screwed because we have 5spd auto, and 9th accord has 6spd auto...
time to move up to 12' TL lol

what would you guys be willing to spend on this? i bet if everybody who responded with "yes" wrote a check for $1k to cover the development costs of the prototype, you'd get their attention.

If they were to set-up a per-order type of system I would pay half of the cost upfront. Which is $350 when looking at other flash pro units and then the rest when the product is completed. If 50 people were to do the same that would cover the development cost and then some.
Developing a tune would not cost that much for these guys especially since they have a lot of experience tuning Honda engines and I think I read somewhere that they "unlocked" the ECU already, but I could be mistaken. There must be some other underlying reason why they don't want to tune this car.

the popularity of this car has definitely waned with the enthusiast market, compared to the 3G and other offerings from Honda. hell, look at this message board even, and compare it to the 3G board. This car is relatively unknown in the Honda community.
they say in their email that it's a completely different architecture which, if true, would mean quite a bit of new code generation.
so, couple a low volume of sales with a potentially high NRE cost, and it's not surprising that they don't want to do it. $100K doesn't go far with R&D, that's 2 engineers time for 6 months...

Unfortunately the only way to get the tune will be to get the TLX because that's their newest project in the works.

Lol. I wish they would take care of us already.
On a side note I was taking to the parts manager at Acura of Lynnwood today and he seems to think Hondata will be doing the 4G after the TLX but CT is done producing the SC for the 4G so there is only two kits out there. One is sitting on a wall and one is still being daily driven with no issues.

Hondata would probably want everyone on the list to put down the full payment up front before showing some interest.

Cost of a standalone ecu and a custom tune?... Probably not worth it but honestly is that our only option in the 4G?
It is kind of stupid in my opinion that nobody made a tune for this car. I have seen cars in much lower volume that have multiple tunes available. It would be so beneficial to have a tune go along with supporting modifications I am pretty surprised that nobody has a tuning solution.
