That's an awesome picture, but you need to re-do it with your mega-brakes. The stockers look so puny behind those giant wheels!

when you start to dip into the throttle when does it start to boost? 5th gear 65 roll as your test criteria. i'm guessing once your done tuning your going to get MUCH better mpg then the rest of us.

on flat ground i can cruise from 60-75 in vacuum 3-5 in hg

X2, new pics with new brakes! This spring I plan to change out my silver emblems for a gold emblem kit, then to change out my wheels and go gold as well. I think the gold would look sick with the dark blue. Its too bad that the TSW nurburgring wheels don't come in a gold enough color. They come in a sort of smoked bronze color but it isn't gold enough. I am thinking something along the lines of the gold people put on their subarus. Worried about ricing though...

Yeah those matte bronze where nice, I'm thinking about getting a smaller set for the strip/circuit. Here are some shots of those old wheels.

Haha, yeah this car is too nice to be a ricer!!

NOte: That the rear wheels are 20x10.5 +25 with 315/35r20.

STEAM ROLLERS STEAM ROLLERS STEAM ROLLERS!!!!!!

God I love the steam roller look. But I also can't stand when wheels poke out of the fender even a bit. Hate it even more than wheels sunk in. I want to go minimum 265 wide but ideally something like 285-295 would be awesome. But gotta find something with a proper offset for that.

I want to do some custom cosmetic stuff, but I have to be wary of going ricer. But I am curious, why don't you have the upgraded lip spoiler on your rdx?

^^I wish Acura had options for upgraded OEM wheels like Audi or BMW does. Something wider, and more performance oriented. But still OEM and designed to complement the aesthetics of the overall vehicle. The problem I have with aftermarket wheels is that to me, they look so...aftermarket I guess. And it's very easy to slip into the ricer domain if not careful, as you mention.

I personally like the cleaner look w/o the upgraded front lip. But just my cosmetic opinion.

They do, they have the sparkle silver or mirror chrome 19" factory wheels with 245 wide rubbers. They were optional back in 2007-2012.

While I do agree that it is very easy to go the wrong way with after market wheels, I think it is VERY wheel specific. I have seen some after market wheels on the rdx that look better than factory (like the tsw nurburgrings above, or another tsw wheel, or even the vossens). Acura has some very boring wheels in general. For me, chrome is a STRICT no no. Same as the deep dish (not concave) wheels.

I like the factory lip more from the front and 3/4 view, hate it from the side way view, gives it a very wedgy look. Almost wedgy like the new jeep cherokee front end.

the lip makes a difference in how the vehicle drives at 120+mph.
just a heads up.

I thought it would have some affect, really didn't expect a huge difference. I guess it adds aero dynamic drag and probably makes the car slower and less fuel efficient. I bet they intended that lip to be the standard one, but made the current one last minute to help fuel economy.

Actually I think the sparkle silver ones are really nice. I didn't appreciate that they were 8" inch wheels (or 8.5"?) so they take a 245. Going to a slightly wider tire, and a 19" might make my weekly trips into SF pretty harsh on the ol' keester. But the photos of people's RDX with them look great.

I also really like them in sparkle silver, hate that other color they come in (the really chromy one). I would assume only 8.0" wide or could even still be 7.5" wide. Would have been ok if they were 8.5" and sweet if they were 9.0". I want to add some fat tires to my rdx with low profile, I push my rdx rather hard, and can feel the wheels flexing.

Seriously loving the flush look, can't understand why they made them so sunk in from factory. Wouldn't a wider track aid in handling and maybe even ride comfort?

I would assume so for the handling, but the comfort might be compromised a bit, I've been through all types of wheel and tire combination with this RDX and the 45 series tire was the best comfort over the 35, 40 tires. The 45 added a little cushion, if you are considering running 20" wheels.

I want to keep it overall closest to factory diameter for the speedo. I would prefer less sidewall though even if that sacrifices ride quality a little because I really hate sidewall flex.

Those rims make the rdx look so mean, it looks comparable to the amg in mean-ness! You should totally stomp though, the ml63 amg does 0-60 in like 4.7-5.2, the gl is like 500-800 pounds heavier and same engine, should easily take this!

I KNOW! NOw that I've seen my car next to that AMG, I kinda want an OEM lip...

This is what I'm up against RDX10 and the one in the video is an OLD one, the boss got a '15 model.

2012 Mercedes-Benz MB ML63 AMG 1/4 Mile Drag Racing - Maple Grove Raceway - YouTube
I think you should totally do the lip. Makes the RDX look a lot more substantial. Right now it looks like a giant wedge, the lip gives the front end a more flat upright look (like the amg). IMHO that is all that is missing from yours.

But the one in the video is an ml, your boss's is a gl no? The gl is signifigantly heavier than the ml.

Yea, getting the lip for sure. I've been sold.

Sorry, guess he does have a GL. Just seen on YouTube, those also run pretty good.

Yes! Now I need to get one next spring too! Post pics when you install it! I wonder how hard it will be to find one in royal blue pearl though, I know some colors were discontinued. They want $600 for the lip here though, I can get it for like $270+ shipping from curry acura, but thats in us dollars and again that fricken exchange rate!

Yeah don't get me wrong, the gl still absolutely stomps though, very very powerful. But I think the rdx can handle it.

I think that price may be for the side moldings though. That front lip I think is 3 something.

At least it is really cheap for you in the us, or easier to find. Here in Canada it is way too expensive loacally, but about the same if I got it from a local dealer vs ordering from the us.

LOL yes it is, side moldings, front is 325 but a lot of them are discontinued. side moldings look better on with the front imo, they compliment the look. btw really like your car, been following this thread, awesome job

I will have to try and find some of those side moldings, the RDx is naked without them. I didn't really think that before, but; side by side with other car makes it a whole different picture.

Lol at ken's RDX being torn to bits with ideas and what he lacks...forgetting the formidable drivetrain mods he's done....
