hey guys, when you delete your mid muffler and add a magnaflow resonator #10416 14" do you just replace one stock resonator on the rear only? and leave everything else alone?
thanks,
Michael

Well theres really 2 resonators, one of them is the mid-muffler.... you replace the mid muffler w/ a straight pipe, and the second resonator w/ the magnaflow part. look at the pic on page 5, for a better idea. and yes you do leave everything else the same.

Alright, I still haven't done this. Is there anyone in the northern IL area with this done? I would love to hear it with the mid muffler removed...
Thanks!

Would removing the midmuffler on a comptech exhaust change the sound as well??

just wondering....
USSI- Get it done! Mine was 30 bucks to remove, and it sounds awesome. If you dont like it, you can put the muffler back in. We already have 3 cats, what do you need 3 mufflers for?

Since its so cheap to take the mid muffler out, doesn't that make more sense to take that one out first. Then if you still think its too quiet you can buy the resonator from magnaflow. I mean 30-40 bucks sounds better to me then 100-150.

How much louder does it really get by putting the magnaflow in to replace the resonator after the mid muffler is gone. I guess do you get more of a jump from putting in the straight pipe or by replacing the resonator? Just trying to get an idea.

Well just think of it as removing the mid-muffler alone as stage 1, and removing the mid-muffler + replacing it with the magnaflow as stage 2. Stage 2 is almost double the loudness of stage 1, which isnt much louder than stock all together.

So I never got to hear yours at the meet. But let me get this right, just removing the mid-muffler the sound really isn't that noticable? I thought people were saying that removing just that made the sound of a g35 or fx? I don't want to be too loud.....I mean this is a luxury car. What is the sound when you just remove the mid-muffler then?

I thought about getting the resonator, but opted out thinking that the removal of the mid-muffler would be sufficient.

Well, it depends on what you mean with loud. Neither setup is really that loud, just one has more of a distinct G35 note than the other. (this would the the stage 2). If your really uncertain, just start out with the mid-muffler delete, and see how you like it. If you think it really wasn't that much of a difference, just go and get the resonator done afterwards.

I want it to be nice and throaty. If I do them both I would rather just do them both at the same time. Just don't want it loud like my old Prelude with a Greddy.

Hey just ordered my Resonaor #10416 off of performancepeddler.com

There normal price is $55.00 shipped, but if you put in the discount code "ebayrocks" it comes up to $44.70. Good price.

I also found a place to do the work for around $50. So that means $100 to get the sound of a new $700 exhaust. Works for me.

Lembowski,

I'm coming down to diego on the 11 so I'll be there on Sat the 12. Do you think the shop is open on Sat? Can you also give me some info (name & phone number of the shop)? Did you get your pipe aluminized or stainless? I want to get it stainless and have the shop to install the flange so whenever I'm tired of the sound I can always swap it back on by myself.

I'm still not sure if TY is going to be able to do it that day. I have to wait for him to call me back on Wednesday next week for his availability. I bought the aluminized resonator. I assume that I will be upgrading to the comptech or maybe GHL within a few years. So I think it should last 2 years easily. I'll ask TY if he could hook us up with a deal if we have both of us getting it done that day. Make sure you order your resonator like now. It ships UPS from Michigan.....you know how slow UPS is. It did ship 2 hours after I ordered it, so this place is very fast Not sure about the flange, haven't read about it......but I'll ask him

I dont think it will be enough to notice. Plus it probably will disorientate the airflow from small to large and back to small.

I had my mid-muff removed today.

I L I K E ! ! !

By the way,

1) I weighted the mid-muff on the bathroom scale, and it weighed 7 1/2 lbs.

2) The mod passed the "wife" test. I took her for a ride, and she said it sounded fine (that means, it's not loud).

3) The price was $60.

Just a "Stage 1" mod. The front resonator is left intact. I did just like this pic. I actually printed this pic, and gave it to the muffler man. I told him "here, this is what I want." He said, "No problem, I can fix you up". He actually did a better job than this pic.

That actually has the resonator replaced with the Magnaflow, you can faintly see the magnaflow writing on the resonator.

Just ordered the 10416 magnaflow. Thanks to lembowski above. www.performancepeddler.com has the best price at just under $45 shipped. Use coupon code "ebayrocks" like he said.

Thumbs up Just got everything done.

So I decided to go to my buddies work today and see what we could do. Excuse me for not having sound clips for u guys.
We removed the mid-muffler to see what that sounds like. It was ok. So we tried another thing. We put in a MAgnaflow resonator in and that sounded decent.
Finally, my buddy suggested i just do a straight pipe. It actually sounds pretty darn good. No resonator or mid-muffler. You can hear it around 2500-3000 rpm. After that, total silence. So all I really did was take everything out and replaced it with a straight stainless steel pipe. Got it all done for 30 bucks. Not a bad mod and im extemely happy with the sound!

It also sounds deep and throaty when it is in the 2500-3000 rpm range.

I guess the sound is all opinion based anyways. I will take a sound clip this weekend once I get mine all done. It would be benificial if we had three different clips:

1) Only mid-muffler out
2) Resonator replaced, and mid-muffler out
3) Everything gone, straight pipe

And I'm assuming Sdiesel619 your in San Diego, where did you get the work done? I would like to hear yours.......if it doesn't sound rhaspy I might change my mind on the Magnaflow.
