My j32a3 swapped Accord
#42
haven't updated this thread in a while. Built a j36 for my accord a little over a year ago. Thanks to Yungone501 for answering numerous questions for me via text. I built and installed it all on my own. It can be very rewarding when you do all the work on your own.
power output is less than I wanted, but I learned that I cant expect too much from a basically stock build. First run is the stock type s calibration, and the second run is after tuning
here is how it sits now

Man, those are NICE numbers! I think it would be nice to see how far it dropped if you carried it out to 7000 rpms.
It appears that you picked up no less than 15whp/15ftlbs everywhere, and as much as 35whp in some spots. It's not as 'peaky' as the J32, and if I had looked at that graph without knowing anything else, my first thought would be damn, that is nice, just needs some cams.
Have you thought about doing a set of Bisi cams? I think you could pick up 30, maybe even 40 whp peak from a set. Torque just starts falling after 5800 rpms. That motor needs to BREATHE!

Good to see some numbers on this motor finally. Tbh brother, I'm not sure what the fuss was all about once you finally got it up and running. Any j-series motor built out of stock parts putting down 300whp is great news IMO. I'm hoping to see at least that with my current 3.5 I just layed in the 6g without boost!
Thanks for sharing the update.

All motor
This car is a damn beast. Thing is, the 3.6 is bad with traction with the stock FD, let alone the TB Motorworx one. This car could run with 5.0s from a roll.

I'd be content with a cammed J32 revving to 7600

I went to the track and did nothing but wheel hopped, and I do have xlr8 mounts and fast line solid lower control arm bushings. I was wheel hopping so bad that I had to let off in fear of snapping an axle. My best run was 13.7 @107.9 with letting off twice and having to shift into 5th right before the end. And that was with a 2.6 60ft

Everytime AV6 guys come on here to post it just blows me away how much more aggressive they are with their mods vs TL guys. Props on this crazy build man, car sounds like a lot of fun.

Those are nice tires! I have Conti DW's and even at my power level I can over power them in 1st. Do they make traction bars for Accords? Hondata TC would be my first choice at getting clean launches and putting as much power down as the tires can handle. I would love to run it for AutoX but the rules in my class won't allow it. That's strange you don't have any offers yet for your car, from the dyno sheet, it would be a hoot to drive. That torque

I don't venture over to the other sections much but the turbo and supercharged 3G TL's are fairly aggressive . That's if they can keep their ringlands and skirts together We also don't like tuning over here such a waste of $$$.

Haven't thought much about the hondata traction control, either.
It is strange that I haven't received and REAL offers yet. I'M not going to give the car away. Offers of $7500 do not even get a Response. Book value on my car bone stock is more than that.
I think the fact that I personally built the motor myself scares people. I'm not a certified mechanic, or anything like that. It's just a hobby for me.

Not sure on traction bars, as I have never looked into it.

Confusing Name Guy
Would love a parts list on this bad boy, or a link to one if it exists elsewhere
Might be a project I could undertake down the road, if I grow the balls to engine swap my TL lol

Lol. There aren't all that many 3.6s, let alone with the TB Motorworx final drive. This is a very unique build, 1 of 2 with the final drive and 1 of 3 with the J37 heads. It's not just 'an engine with breather mods,' smh.

good shit as always simione! car super clean

@screaminz28 Yea i saw that thread about intake not doing anything awhile back & just continued drinking my cup of tea

Anyone interested in using j37 heads should strongly consider the 10+ j37a1 MDX heads instead of the 07-09 heads because they not only flow better than the older heads, they also have better valvetrain components, higher lift cams, better cooling efficiency, and less moving parts for better reliability. The heads feature hollow cams that are not able to be ground so you won't be able to use aftermarket cams...only down side.
