Innovative Mounts Review

I haven't seen any reviews of this so I'll start. Please list what stiffness grade you got. I'll start with a quick one and add more when i've driven around for a few days...

I got the 75. I've only installed the front and rear mounts and there is a big difference. On the positives wheel hop is eliminated and the wheels feel more 'planted'. I plan to install the side mount over the weekend perhaps. I Definitely feel more vibrations throughout the cabin. Idle is a bit rougher and I can hear a slight rattle from my dash. I dont mind

ive got 60A

Only side mount installed as of, but definitely less hop, sturdy engine feel.... slight vibrations, not that bad.... i guess the 75A is a big jump upwards from the 60A.

now that i am on my stock wheels, i can really light up those crappy MXM4 tires....no wheel hoppin' or clunking or thudding....

The back mount has to have the frame dropped to install it.... acura just called me and gave me good n bad news...im no way in hell paying 4 hours to have the mount installed....id rather drop n install it myself. i have the tools just not the lift.... the 60A makes a huge difference i dont feel vibrations but i have much more engine noise being transferred throughout the car....it sounds great at high rpm....the front mount and side were easy to install the rear one's the real cunt here.....other than that they blow away the shit honda makes.

Yeah that is true, I just came from my acura dealership to ask them about installing those mounts, and the guy there also said the back mount in order to install it the frame has to be dropped. I was thinking about getting those mounts also but might put those off.

So, 60A reduces wheel hop and the ride is still somewhat cozy, 75A eliminates wheel hop at the cost of addedvvibration and engine noise? Nothing in between 60 and 75? Did you guys get them from excellerate? I'm seriously thinkin of these.

u can get them from who ever its all the same, i was on the group buy on the honda forum....which was pointless because it was super late.... but everyone got the same product so it really made no difference. i really wouldnt go over the 60A... they are stiff mounts to begin with.

So which one's do you guys recommend? The 60A, 70, 75...lol. What do these numbers indicate? I'd want the ones that do not make too much cabin noise or feel any vibrations.

I think the innovative mounts actually push the engine UP by like a 1/4". I'm sure you can mix n match because my side mount wasn't sitting perfect. I'm still waiting for the bracket for the side mount...

I can't attest to this as my goddam mounts haven't shown up, but many on the Honda forums "say" they've installed these already, without having to drop the front subframe.

The Acura Service Manual says that's the way to do it, with a 2 hour service time, so that's the te way they're gonna do it... Doesn't mean there's not another way. One guy said it only took him about an hour to do...

USSI, did you pull the blower to get the front mount on? or can you get at it from the underside?

I will be doing mine on Sunday.

To offer help to others doing their install, the torque value for the mount main bolt is 47 ft.lbs.

Now, I have a question in return

Notice in the pic below that one mount has a curved edge and the other mount has straight edges. Which one goes in front and which is the rear mount ? Please explain why (or how you learned which is which).

to get the front mount removed and out of the engine bay you need to remove the battery tray. the front mount is the curved one because the stock front mount is curved and the rear one is straight....plus the holes dont line up correctly if u do it the other way around.

I did the side mount last night on wanderer's car with like 50hours + of sleep deprivation... easiest shit I've ever done... I actually was like wth how the hell...

then I went for a straightline run... WANDERER GOT SPANKED... rofl... (no really he's rolling on 225/40-18... with massive negative camber so it was an unfair kill)

^ lol you hit the gas before me, whenever your ready for a fair run, you just let me know  , and my new battery came in, so if you wanna stop by to do the install of the front mount, because as Tripnbeats said, we have to remove the battery anyways. Might as well get both installs done at the same time.

no no... he had the sidemount and I whooped him.... but it wasn't really a fair race... I just like speedmatched with him then I heard him floor it but I was already in 3rd so in auto mode it takes a split second for his car to downshift... so I was like a car length ahead of him the entire way rofl

Kennedy - I had my front and rear mounts installed when my blower was already off my car. There doesn't look to be any way you can squeeze by the blower for the front. Someone on the other forum said they got in from below the car and installed it, so go figure.

Tripn - I don't think you will notice such a slight difference (1/4"). But after the front and rears were installed, there was a small space for the stock side mount. Not a big deal, I was just saying they're not the EXACT dimensions of the stock mounts...

.25 inch is too much...something would break...they have to be pretty approximate (maybe off by a mm) otherwise axles break, tranny wont sit right and engagement is off... on the stick models.... and you will notice a difference in such a small miscalculation.... i lined up the front ones from a few angles to see how exact they were and they lined up pretty exact.

the front mount i tried to get out through every last crevice or crack that i thought u can get it out of....no shot.....the "engineers" figured out how to fuck us so the car has to go to acura....to an extent....but im gonna try to take apart a section of the engine bay tonight and see if i can take out the rear from the top...if it comes out u bet ur asses ill post how i did it lol!! what I plan on doing is moving over a part of the engine bay cables and possibly sliding it out in a weird way...maybe it works maybe it doesnt but at this point im willing to give it a shot.

Ok, this makes more sense then. I called IM today to ask which is Front. I was told by IM that the curved mount goes in the rear.

Yea no shit I just finished james from mount

Easy asssssss hell well except for the part of my low profile jack didn't fit under his car.. Friggin 2.5" drop ... Took me 30mins...

For the record I didn't remove anything but the passenger side fan to get the stock mount out and to put the IM mount in...

Place a box over the rad after you remove the passenger side fan

Overall this install was super easy... I give it a 3/10 its harder to put wheels on with the stock jack and tire iron...

Next up rear...but james had to take it for a spin... So guess that'll come later

Tools : long rachet is a mustm.. 2feet long extension with a swiveling end is the most comfortable

The 4 bolts come out like nothing just move the rubber crap so you can see em....

Just for reference I have seen a number of questions on bushing grade.

Anyone who has a street driver and normal bolt ons will want 60A. 75A is for highly modified cars that are pushing high HP, like cars with turbo setups running some big power. The S/Ced members could use it also but I think it's overkill on I wouldn't recommend it on an Acura TL b/c the car is part luxury. For my Civic/Integra customers we run it all day long but they usually don't mind the vibrations. 85A is a straight track bushing.

OK... if I hear another person comment on dropping the subframe or doing it from underneath or this and that and blah blah blah.... this install is stupid proof...

I used an autozone CHEEP-O Jack... and completed the front in like 20mins... and the rear took a little longer.... the only thing I removed for the rear mount removal... THE STUTBAR... wanderer took the mount out of the driver side near the radiator hoses over there... came right out... I dropped in the new mount from above the cat no clearance issues WHATSOEVER...

I can do this install on the sidewalk ALL DAY... the best part was watching James looking for the 14mm wrench everytime I dropped it and it felt out the bottom ... I dropped it quite a few times

here are some pics post install
stockers

side mount (take note of the ground wire location... )

Front (easy as pie)

Rear (takes some finesse... wanderer took a pic of what I mean... post it dude)

So what's your take on this as far as performance? Vibrations? I got these the other day, but want to get as much feedback as possible before installing.

vibration... is there... noticeable... yes... bearable yes... will it cause a center deck rattle possibly... will i do this to my own car in the future, definitely... does the motor twitch to the rear when you hit the gas NOPE... not even a small twitch... did it stop wanderer's wheel hop hell yea, did he put more power to the floor... I believe so cuz he friggin got a half a car length on me and I cheated lol then redlined 2nd ... then he redlined 3rd heheheh

^^ lol i love that pic.. Some feedback for you guys. The vibrations are there, from the side mount, no vibration noticeable, from side and front mount, minimal vibration noticed, and side, front and rear mount, vibration is there but is not as bad as i thought, possibly because i have an exhaust that rattled alot of stuff before, but the new vibrations are not bad at all. The wheel hop is gone, car did a nice straightaway from a dead stop with flooring it, no wheel hop AT ALL. and for a quick highway run, the car shifts a lot smoother and just seems to be a lot better at getting up to higher speeds ( which resulted in a pull-over lol), but the steering wheel vibrated a lot more, could also be due to my shitty tires and needing a camber kit..I've also got a broken bushing on my transmission mount which i noticed when doing these installs, so im sure ill feel an even bigger difference when that gets fixed. So overall - install is easy if you have the right tools to do it, and the performance gains are great. I'll see if i can get some feedback tomorrow for you guys once my tranny mount is fixed and i can take it for a nice drive, sorry for the long post, just trying to fill you guys in as much as possible.
