Is it confirmed to run with the automatics? Any control over shifting parameters?

Once the thread generates enough interest (am assuming 10-12 members) Rodney will becomes a Vendor and then payment time....once he has the payment, he will start shipping the unit....i see people on the list having the ECU by like end of Feb (latest) if we have enough interest by the end of December....so a 1.5 month turn around time....

Once he has payment he still needs to buy the actual components, assemble them and get your harness put together. These are made to order and not sitting on the shelf.

There is one unit on turbo'd auto type s that works. No idea about the control shifting parameters though. I have mine going on a 04 auto

Should work. There are a few members with a S/C using J&R ECU.

Lets get some interest and then if the mods permit me, I will post how much this is going to cost you guys.

EDIT: Am posting this new thread as the previous one by swoosh was/got deleted.

Depends on total cost and whether it is benificial for NA applications.

Hey, some quick question to Rodney.

1. So say I have more fuel needing to go out and my stock vtec needs to be moved lower sa 4500 or 4300, are their base maps for some of these or would our tuners have to do their magic?

2. Rev hang isn't as bad as the 06+ Civic guys that I encountered in the past with. Flashpro made a big difference with having no rev hang on the car (95%). Will this DBW be simular?

3. Will this ECU installed, will my Oil Life meter of 100% stay the same or will this function work?

4. Will you be offering versions/updates as the JnR ecu community grows? Just don't want to be sold to me and then bails out as I've seen in other cases.

5. Will we have 2 step launch?

6. Will we have a feature to not overrev say cut off at 8K?

7. Can I put the speed govener to be 200+ MPH ?

8. Can I disable VSA?

9. Will this ECU effect the fuel gauge?

These questions MAY have been asked already but just questions that pops up when I had a DBW car and some of these were concerns when being flashed via OBDII port as well as other Honda problems/fixes.

Noob question....So we can't upload this and take it off our car? We have to have it hooked on the car all times?? I would think we should have this ECU hook up to 1 VIN number and be registered. This would be a nice present during tax season...

I've read, but have questions unless you can provide me answers regarding to some issues. Not trying to say that we should ONLY have a 3G TL forum so it's more organized around here.

and thats why i said he will need 2 months from the time payments are made

btw I hope someday ECU's will be stocked on shelves for the TL

Please read the post by TheChamp....we are not allowed to discuss the price as of yet....

hahaha....am getting pretty much all the stuff as well...i was talking to Rodney and convinced him to become a Vendor here and give couple other people a good deal if we have enough interest

yes...i think thats an additional option as well....i asked him to include this in my order just in case i need to put it there....

so when your selling the car you can sell the ECU with it ??? LOL

no this connects to your STOCK ECU if you want to retain your luxury features like Radio/AC/etc and if you have all those "deleted" then this acts as a standalone ECU....

you can connect your lappy to it and "tune" it....

@bouncer - we as end-users can lower the VTEC to whatever we want and yes, we can change the fueling ourselves, don't need to tuner to change these...I got these answers from Rodney himself...

sorry, don't know the answers to your other questions...

Nearly everything can be changed. Nearly everything can be left stock with the J&R ECU. Nearly everything will be the same without the ECU if you didn't want to use (but was plugged in). 'Nearly everything' because I'm 99.9% sure.

I think the people asking questions should refer to the ECU thread. It's full of information.

The great thing about this ECU is that you can retain ALL ACTORY SETTINGS. Simply put: When this ECU is hooked up and running properly, it will be no different than utilizing JUST the stock ECU in terms of luxury functions. Once you start tuning, obviously the car will perform different. Other than that, it's just a stock TL.

I just spoke to Rodney....he says he needs a LEAD TIME of 3 weeks....

1> Enough Interest (~15 people)
2> Vendor Status
3> Payments by us
4> Delivery of the ECU in 3 weeks of payment....

So all the stings are coming together....

the list so far:
1. Justin Myers - '06 6MT - justnspace
2. Justin Rogers- '04 AT - j-rogsuperstar
3. Champ - 06 AT - TheChamp531

Hey, some quick question to Rodney.

1. So say I have more fuel needing to go out and my stock vtec needs to be moved lower sa 4500 or 4300, are their base maps for some of these or would our tuners have to do their magic?

Tuner can do it or rodney can send you a map with adjusted vtec engagement. (nobody has gained any power from changing the crossover on an N/A car yet tho)

2. Rev hang isn't as bad as the 06+ Civic guys that I encountered in the past with. Flashpro made a big difference with having no rev hang on the car (95%). Will this DBW be simular?

No comment on the rev-hang as i believe it is a feature added to the acura in order to create smoother shifts

3. Will this ECU installed, will my Oil Life meter of 100% stay the same or will this function work? Yes

4. Will you be offering versions/updates as the JnR ecu community grows? Just don't want to be sold to me and then bails out as I've seen in other cases.

Rodney has already sent out one update since it came out. you will be updated every time a new firmware comes out.

5. Will we have 2 step launch?

2 step has been attained on at least one car to my knowledge

6. Will we have a feature to not overrev say cut off at 8K? the car already has a fuel cut built in. you can adjust it

7. Can I put the speed govener to be 200+ MPH ?

Not sure

8. Can I disable VSA?

Not sure if it can be done automatically. you can press the VSA button to disable it.

9. Will this ECU effect the fuel gauge?

it will make your fuel guage move towards E faster because you will be enjoying that power

These questions MAY have been asked already but just questions that pops up when I had a DBW car and some of these were concerns when being flashed via OBDII port as well as other Honda problems/fixes.

Hmmm...Phee, just going by most (every) other VTEC engines that have been tuned out there, it seems kinda hard to believe there's no power to be had by lowering the VTEC engagement...unless this engine is just a totally different "beast"? I'm just really curious...

Just seems kinda logical, except for the fact that we cannot alter the cam angles electronically through this ECU, if you change the engagement and throw more fuel and timing at it, it should produce more power? What have your findings been?

I didn't say there was no power to be had.. I said nobody has proven any power gains by adjusting vtec engagement on a TL.

I answered all those questions by reading the ECU thread and emails from Rodney.

Just got a mail from Rodney:

Anil I'll be getting some videos up of tuning and gains on a 2004 tl equipped with a oem motor ,j32a3 with greddy catback exhaust ,jpipe ,oem cats in place bank 1&2 ,third cat delete ,aem intake ,I'll do some vtec engagement points ,oem numbers before ecu ,egr delete ,and show functions ect this should eliminate most questions..
I think this will give us a very clear idea about vtec engagement related questions and also how much will this ECU do for bolted guys with a good tune

For the turbo and SC guys the power band is greatly improved by lowering the Vtec to 4k. Hitting VTEC at 4k was awesome with the SC, tire spin time.

I'm very interested in joining this group buy but you guys are trying to get the payments in by the end of December right? But if there was more time involved I'd be very interested in saving up for this, I read up on the thread a couple weeks back and it sounds really awesome so I'd definitely would love to get my hands on this eventually!

This has been done on a bolted on Type S and the results were awesome....

if my memory serves me right it was ~20whp/~25wtq with a good tune....

Base should be around the same numbers give or take 2-3 hp/tq
