Dyno day tomorrow morning

I will test the following on my soon to be non stock 2008 TL-S M6

Quick car info: 27000miles, aspec wheels

Couple runs stock.
2-3 minutes later, add AEM V2 cold air intake. then couple runs again.
Remove AEM V2, reconnect stock intake pipe back, unstrap car from dyno.

Install RV6 Jpipe V3.

Couple runs with stock intake and new Jpipe.
2-3 minutes later, add AEM V2 cold air intake, then couple final runs.

Doing this the same morning on the same dyno with same temperature will give a real reading of all the parts gain, separatly and combined. I hope this will be useful to all users.

I know every Dynos are different, but with my 04 TL 6MT at 165KMs I got 260WHP/210TQ SAE corrected with CAI, RV6 Jpipe, PCD with stock cat back. Outside temps was about 26Celsius and 80% humidity.

The Dyno was BOT a DynoJet but I'm not sure if it was a mustang.

I'm planning to do another run after I'll be done with my custom catback, big bore TB, IM runners and aslo I will try do get some HP from the APEXI NEO event if it doesn't have the IC...... Lets hope for 280WHP

Wolks war, you should swing for the new ecu.

I have the same exact mods as you, sans the CAI.
I'l be planning to port and polish my intake manifold and runners, with the 09 TL throttle body.

after that would be the new ecu.
over 300 hp.
game over.

DOM, you should check out the high flow cats. all the power of PCD's without the rasp or smell.

@justnspace, The ECU is pretty expensive and if the NEO work great(Hopefully) I don't think it would make that much more power.....In my opinion.

@mrlal8: I'm thinking the same way, wish I had a 3.5, but it was too expensive at the moment I bought mine, I'll wait to find a use 3.5 and look what need to me changed to make it PNP.

their not fast, but they're quick.
I'm enjoying the process of building the car.
and I also agree that if i swapped over all my base 6mt mods over to a 6mt tl-s, it would be awesome.

No way you got these numbers without a catback. 2 real mods yielding 45-50 whp no way in hell.

He said SAE so it's obvious. Either he's lying or the shop has screwed with the settings.

Let alone by looking at his sig, he has a earlier model of the RV6 Jpipe means his Jpipe is still restrictive.

A dynojet, done 100+ runs with my other car and it's ultra precise between runs so I trust this dyno.

which for what you're doing is perfect, comparing/combining mods. But we all know how "ambitious" the jet's are lol

I agree that the # surprised me, that's why I'll do it on a mustang after I'll be done with the PN. And FYI, my J pipe is the V3, so it's not restrictive, and I had the muffler removed(maybe +1WHP )lolllll!!!!

I would never lie on # or everything else, but maybe your right and the shop did mess with thoses numbers!!!!!! Only God knows!!!!!!!!!

Oh ok thanks for clarifying. Reason why I thought you had an earlier model is because you have the 3rd cat delete in your sig. Yeah the number is high-- the MT base makes about 212-215whp stock.

Fixed.

Hell, the '03 J30 6MT Accord makes 215-220 whp, SAE corrected on a DJ.

By searching and from seeing it with my own eyes I doubt the MT is nearly 20 whp more than the AT. I also don't see the Type S making 255 whp stock. Blackura type s with full bolt ons only hit 300whp. I don't know if I'm hallucinating but the numbers don't sound realistic.

Here's the numbers/charts

Run 463 = Stock
Run 462 = AEM V2 = 10whp gain
Run 464 = RV6 V3 J pipe = 4whp gain
Run 467 = RV6 V3 J pipe + AEM V2 = 13whp gain

The J pipe gains only on top and the AEM gains on all the RPM. The ecu is tuned ultra rich! 11.3 on the ''leanest'' run. Another 10whp would be gain if it was around 13.0. May be I'll fix this problem someday. Oh and the ecu was reset to see if it would give better gain on the J pipe but it did not, it was the same before and after the reset. First run of the day was at 08:10 and last one at 09:11. 27-29C was the temp, a very hot day today here.

Now let the madness begin.

No way the AEM V2 gave you 10 WHP. :/
J pipe gave you those gains.

I don't know why these numbers vary greatly between sheets I've seen.

Those numbers do look correct -- as in total whp.

Sounds legit to me based on some of the numbers I've seen for a member running a stock catback with a catless j pipe and intake. AEM on their dyno sheet they provide for the Accord shows a 10whp gain on a manual tranny. Not saying I put a tremendous amount of stock of what they provide, they claim the dyno was done on the same day. But the results the OP posted are reasonably consistent with what I've seen.

Below is a link to another member who installed ATLP J pipe on his manual TL along with AEM CAI and gained 10whp with the two, he was running also running stock catback.

Lol I'm not hating. I'm glad he posted a dyno. Thanks FYI

I can see a J pipe and CAI making 10 whp just not only the CAI. As stated in man threads -- the stock intake/airbox is not that restrictive to net 10 whp maybe 4-5.

Sorry to bash your thread OP-- didn't mean to but these gains look 2 high-- I could be wrong though.

Probably why Opel strongly disliked dyno sheets.

lol calm down dude.. how do you just come into his thread and accuse him of lying of the numbers on a dyno. There are less offensive ways of saying what you're trying to say. Maybe this is why you get into arguments on here

Maybe you should read before you type. The person I quoted is different then the OP. I said "OR", giving two options.

And I'm fine with everyone minus people that don't search. I don't remember when I had a problem with anyone without a good reason.

Nice try.

^So it's even worse, you are calling someone a liar, and it's neither of yours thread. Lol

Dynos vary greatly. We all know this.

Run 463 = Stock
Run 462 = AEM V2 = 10whp gain
Run 464 = RV6 V3 J pipe = 4whp gain
Run 467 = RV6 V3 J pipe + AEM V2 = 13whp gain
I agree, 10WHP on just a v2 doesn't sound right. Nor does 4WHP gain on a v3 sound right. But the 13 total does, low even. My car stock dynoed much higher then the other MTs I had seen around here. Even the guys at the shop agreed it pulled very strong for what it was. The day, the dyno, the people. Too many variables to call someone a liar.

Thanks for posting the results! That's a great gain from the V2.

I feel that "getting the air out" (exhaust) mods take longer for the ECU to recognize. If he went back and dyno'd again with more miles, I guarantee he would see more power from the V3 Jpipe. ~13whp from I/Jpipe is pretty good. Especially when still on the stock exhaust and allowing NO time for the ECU to recalibrate.

I noticed the OP said he reset the ECU, but that still doesn't give it time to adjust. So I still stick by my statement of more power with more time to adjust.

He did a great job posting this for all of us, we should be thankful!

Why do people not read? I told him that he's either lying or the dyno shop had the wrong settings. Unless he owns the dynojet-- I'm not saying he's a liar, yet.

And I already apologized about bashing his thread, but I don't like misinformation because then it leads to more threads made.
