wow, after all these years my list is still being used =). I personally used a set of no-name SS lines for about 10 months, they started leaking. So I went with what I felt was the best at the time, Goodridge SS lines part # 20106. double check on the part number. its was a good 5 years ago I did this.... look it up as a TL-S and it should be fine.

Sorry, to revive an old thread but I'm looking for a steering rack on the cheap. I have a 6MT and just want to verify that your auto rack worked with the Brembo setup. I'm pretty broke at the moment, and can only find salvaged rack's for auto's.
I am wondering because the part #'s are different for 04-06 6MT and 04-08 Auto non Type-S racks.

Hi Hata_61 ,
This is a great thread indeed.
So to carry on this thread, this is my question, and tell me if it makes sense.
I have 2004 - 6 Speed Manual Trans. TL - which has Brembo Fronts. 183,000 Miles with crack dash.. etc .etc..
I also have a 2006 TL Automatic which has 180,000 miles..
I am getting rid ot the 04 TL to a local guy here .. but before i do that, how hard is it to swap the brake systems..from/to 04 / 06.
I really want to get the brembo on the 06 Automatic
so do you , or any one has like a write up ... i do consider my self intermediate as a mechanic... i have done brakes /rotors/oil change/tranny fluid change/spark plugs/wires in past....

Thanks!
Yup,it should be fairly easy if you have a donor vehicle. Just unbolt the front knuckle assembly from the upper &lower ball joints, tie rods,CV shafts and the flex hoses from the steel line on the body.Dont forget the wheel speed sensor plugs as well. From there on its just bolt it into the other TL and bleed the brakes. It's recommended you get an alignment, but since you havent done anything to the tie rod adjustment, you should be pretty close.
If i have forgotten anything please feel free to add on people!
Hope this helps

Thanks Hata_61 !!
Do i needs to take the axle /wheel bearing out ?? This is not really a donor vehicle, it's mine and I am just retiring it to a family member, so i just want to swap and make sure that brakes on both rides work well...
If you could name all the parts which needs to be swapped, that would be a huge help.
thanks once again in advance!

Great info, wondering how the knuckles for the type s and base differ from each other? Thanks for any help.

The knuckles for the Type-S and the base 6MT are the same, however, they are quite different than the base Automatic transmission equipped cars and are while interchangeable (from a mounting perspective) the brakes are not.

Understood. So am I correct in deducing that both the Type S / 6 MT & Base AT have the same front wheel bearing / hub assemblies?
