'08 TL Type S Rotrex supercharger build

I have a black 08 TL type S, I am currently putting in a rotrex supercharger with 8lb pulley and full exhaust, headers back. I need to know what are some of the best mods I can do to the car to make it a street beast. I know I need bigger injectors for a start but I can't seem to find any for this car. Can anyone help me?

The RDX injectors are a direct fit as are the RSX type s injectors. The J and R standalone ECU will also be a nice addition.

Just like mentioned above rdx injectors will probably be the most cost efective. You might also look into an external trans cooler, and some kind of intercooler setup. Check out the different alchohal/meth injection thread also. A must to have is a computer to Tune it with. The J and R standalone ecu should be released shortly and will provide the TL with everything it could ever want and more, in the tuning dept. A less costly alternative to tuning would be the aem fic. You can add fuel, but it is difficult to pull timing.

Um I'm pretty sure we do not have headers as ours are cast in to block ?

Can some one correct me if I'm wrong please.

Good luck man I would love to strap a super charger on my Type-S...

What application was this rotrex intended for?? Rdx you can get bnib for 36 an injector. Are u mt or at? If at, an additional trans filter as well as cooler. Meth is another must for any fi. Aem or snow seem to be the top two people like..also an external fpr.. Def a/f gauge preferably aem. Two steps colder spark plugs..Yes also we don't have headers, we use pre cat deletes. Also I would recommend a 3" exhaust..

I have never heard of this supercharger for a TL. any pics of what you have so far or is this just an idea for right now?

After a quick search over the web site it seems they make it for the Mdx and 8th gen accord only, not the 3G.. Were compatable with the 7gen accord. Not sure if u were going to fab it to work but look into it a lil deeper before u proceed with the build.. Either way good luck. I a well never hears of this type of blower..

so this will give 425hp from 307hp to a MDX? Is this some kind of scam or something? how come no one has heard of this before?

I have not double checked the gains but those numbers Myron I guess are some what reasonable to say for sc gains.. a lil over exaggerated yes. While overlooking to see if it was for the 3G I noticed it was intended for BMW.Mercedes and other cars. Only applied to 2 Acura/Honda.. Magnuson makes the ct sc so maybe this is a company that does the same for other makes and models.. I'm hoppy to here from the op soon, so.he can fill us in on some more details..

The limited picture they have of it on that MDX makes it look... cheap and cobbed together. I would like to hear from the OP at some point about this.

Look into rotrex there blowers are much more effeciant than the comptech units.

That has to be one of the worst web sites I have ever visited. A whole lot of nothing.

That is an interesting blower. Looks like a belt driven turbocharger.

you mean a centrifugal supercharger

but yes it is basically the same as a turbo, but instead of the turbine/exhaust side, it gets driven by a belt

The size of a turbo without the plumbing......there must be some disadvantages since it seems like either conventional turbo's and screw type superchargers are commonly used.

turbo= more power due to less "power loss" due to using the excess energy in the exhaust; but it is alot harder to plumb though, with have to also run the exhaust up to it

screw blower = VERY linear power band, due to the boost coming on at a consistent rate

centrifigual= basically kinda that laggy/surge feel of a turbo, with the power lost of a screw blower; BUT they do have there place though, especially when space constraints come into play; let me try and find a video/picture that someone showed me with a centrifugal on a J motor

Centrifugals like this one produce good peak numbers but don't hit full boost until redline. It's like having turbo lag all the time. They're as efficient on the compressor side as a turbo with comparable charge air temps but of course they require power to be driven. Probably the best sounding and intimidating of all superchargers except for a cogged drive.

They all have advantages and disadvantages. This one would probably have a similar looking powerband as a stock TL but with more power. You won't get the huge torque gains you do from a turbo. Think of this one as a belt driven turbo.

RDX injectors are borderline. I would choose carefully in the fuel department. Remember that you have to leave a larger margin of safety on a supercharged engine because 20-60hp is zapped by the blower before it ever gets measured at the crank or wheels. If it makes 300hp at the crank, you need enough fuel to support 360hp to be safe. A 60lb injector would give a nice large safety margin at an estimated 400hp.

No low end... Boost builds with rpm and continues to climb until the revs stop rising. My personal opinion is they're better suited for large engines that already have a lot of low end but not as good at making a small V6 perform like a V8 down low. If your turbo TL and the centrifugal TL make the same peak numbers, your turbo TL will still walk it, not to mention the fueling requirements are higher at the same power level.

Their peak numbers usually look really good but they have very little under the curve.

this thread is going no where fast... not only is the OP as vague as that worthless website =/ but he says hes "currently" putting in a rotrex supercharger, but is totally clueless as to where to buy injectors, referring PCD's as "headers", asking what are the best mods, yada yada yada... not to mention its his very first thread/post and hes yet to answer any questions thus far throw us a bone over here... pics? where you bought? how much? etc etc...


personally, ive never took a good look underneath a hood of a MDX, but its just too tight of a package to fit a centrifugal supercharger in any year TL.

this is the biggest drawback to this type of supercharger IMO. the sound at idle is LOUD on certain applications and ruins the element of surprise.

^ agreed.................. These are pretty good little chargers mustang guys use them alot around here and they sound very good and perform well....... But like everyone has said above me, it sounds like you haven't even researched and bought any supporting pieces to say.................... BUILD.......................
