Steve, I appreciate your side of the story. Yes, IHC doesn't always have the best input. Sometimes, he offers his side of the story in a negative way. I've worked with him to not be offensive. The post you've pointed to is exactly that.

Steve, you must realize-this is a public forum. He has the right to his opinion, just like you do! As long as it's a civil conversation, I have to allow it. As long as it doesn't result in name calling or cussing, it's a good back-and-forth discussion.....

Like I said, I'm not knowledgeable enough on the technical side of electricity to be a judge on this. Please...feel free to offer up your side of the discussion. Just don't cuss, keep it gentlemanly. If it frustrates you, you also have the option to not engage in the conversation.

I see your side, IHC has his side and his experiences too.

I knocked it down by paralelling the 8.2 ohm resister and it worked perfectly. Now my amp is seeing a 2 ohm load and it loves it. This particular amp is a little anal but at 2 ohms has a THD of <0.05%. At the 3.3 ohm or so it was seeing earlier I couldn't turn it up very high without the amp going into protect. Stupid I know but it is what I have and it cost me 60 bucks. Just tweeking the settings and I though that the voices were a little soft but just turning the bass down and taming the treble a touch makes it all sound as close to perfect as I had hoped to be able to achieve. I cannot see the resister hurting anything. If anything it will stop working and I'll have to replace it (flameproof) but I did use 10w, the highest I could find.

I ended up purchasing a Morel MDT12 instead of the Vifa. I thought it complimented the RS150 better. Crossing the 150 at 1440 first order and the tweeter at 2k first order. Hopefully works out, may need some tweaking but I do have some extra capacitors and resisters of the audio variety. BTW, have you ever tuned your vented enclosure right the driver Fs? I cannot believe the difference in SQ. I have two pipes sticking out of a modified .54 cuft prefab (sealed) box.

Honestly, the reason I didn't go bigger is I do not want to disfigure my car at this point. I also could not find a driver with a neo magnet for cheap. The RS 180 has a 5.75" cutout diameter which is the same as the HV 165 and I would not install those. I tried... I built dual 3/4 spacer rings but couldn't get the panel on, etc. I am not shooting for major spl at all. The fronts will only see about 65 watts each, but clean watts. This is my first build. Maybe down the road I will be more willing to cut my doors. *shrug*

I was glad to see you liked the Daytons over the Hertz. I am trying to sell the Hertz locally but maybe I should put them on DIYMA.

The daytons would be TONS better than the hertz set. Vifa xt25 is a top better and i believe they may be a couple bucks cheaper. btw why didnt u go with the rs180? Should be just as easy to get into the doors. Another good tweet is the Vifa ne19vtc. They're a lil more expensive than the other options, but can play lower(1.7k iirc)
