i read a thread about the tl tranny problem, and it looks like you actually work for a dealer. wondering if you could help me out. i've got an '02 tl with almost 100k miles on it. i absolutely love the car, and it's been great except for the fact that it's on its third transmission. i took it in to get the oil jet kit installed back in '05 when it had 55k miles on it, the tranny went out anyway at 68k miles, and then the rebuilt one (that they assured me would be a permanent fix) went out about 12k miles later. i've read enough of these forums to know that this is very common. is the problem really just the gears overheating or is there something more to it than that? are the rebuilt transmissions fitted with the oil jet kit? what are my chances of having a third transmission die on me? if it were to go out, could i replace it with a tranny from an '05 tl and be done with the problems entirely? like i said, i love my tl and want to keep it for another five years or so, but if the tranny is going to be a time bomb, i need to know so i can act accordingly. thanks in advance!
