Eggy, another question for you. I obviously had to cross my tweeter higher than 2k with a first order cross over... it's at 7400 now but transitions very well. Sound is awesome. My question is can I put a 4 ohm resister in parallel with the dayton to knock the total impedance of the circuit down without hurting the drivers or anything else in any way? My amp loves to see 2 ohm loads and it is likely around 3.2 ohm right now including the added dc resistance of the air core inductors.

Eggy, sorry to bother you about audio gear as you seem to get a lot of questions already. I am thinking of upgrading front stage with dayton rs 150's snd nd28f tweeters with some kind of passive crossover network once I grt them hooked up. I have the RTA equipment to match components ss well as oscilliscope to make sure things are working properly. I actually bought a Hertz HSK265 set but have not installed yet I am sort of unsure whether I would be happier with the daytons especially that tweet once tuned properly. Let me know your honest ipinion. Btw mathand science are natural to me to dont worry about risky advice or hard to do configurations. All the prep work has already been done for a good install (amps, jl rlc line driver with rca aux out and remote, upgraded power wiring, distribution block, deadened speaker and noisy areas, etc). At this point I have never even hooked up the hertz (they are real I checked and paid for them) and if what I am thinking is true I can make a better sounding set for one fifth the price. What do you think?

i actually had some noise - didn't have time to confirm it was the amp, and now i'm trading in my tl soon. after thinking about it, yeah i'll probably hold on to the amp and perhaps take your suggestion for some new comps

actually i wana run a little more power to the lower end of my id ctx65cs's, but then again, I might not even notice just a small upgrade in wattage ... primarily though, i'd like to switch out my pdx to something else as well (heard they carry some inherent noise, which I think mine be a victim of as well) ... any 4channels you'd recommend at 100wrms as well? thx again!

EDIT: seems these phantoms are getting some awesome reviews

hey eggy - sorry but i wanted to ask for your opinion on something - i'm looking to replace my pdx4.100 for a different 4channel that'll provide maybe a little more than 100wrms per channel, willing to pay up to $300 - do you have any suggestions???? thx in advance man

I have been doing some homework, and slowly learning about SQ vs. SPL. I would like to have a few speaker enclosures that encompass both ranges. What frequency should I have a ported box tuned to in order to have good sound quality to accommodate an Alpine SWR 1242D ran at 2ohms at 500 watts?
