I have a 2006 Acura TL with 180,000 mile. I was driving and my gear indicator light in my dash went off (D) for drive. When this happened I was only able to go as far as third gear. Also in "manual" mode, I was not able to down shift or up shift while driving. Now when the gear indicator light turns back on then the transmission seems fine. Also my check engine light came on a few weeks back but I thought it was just an emissions issue, so I did not think anything of it. The light turned off on its own after a day or so. With this check engine light, is this an indicator that i may have transmission problems? What would cause the fact that at times I can only go as far as third gear. This has only happened 3 times in a 10 day span.
