I read your CL/Odyssey transmission swap. I wish you care for my CL. I need the 05 Odyssey because the 06 may not have blocks? I am a girl, don't know what blocks means.
I read that you know a mechanic in Southern California, experienced with CL/Ody trans swap. I would appreciate a referral, can you please send me their name, address and phone #?
Acura dealer, wants $3,600 with discount. Others want $2,500 for the same thing. Expensive and does not fix problem.
So I really want the CL/Odyssey transmission swap. I am in San Diego, CA so a person close by would be ideal. Hoping for the best. Thank you.
I've got the car up for sale, but the other project I had in mind has fallen through. Probably back to fixing the CL. One thing I need to be certain of though, my CL is a first gen. Will the Oddessy trans work in it. I'm seeing references to second gen, got me wondering if it'll fit in mine.
They can still fail, but you have a much better chance of getting one from a soccor mom mobile that has not already been beaten on so you can do better maint than honda calls for greatly extending the transmissions life and no trim does not matter.
That might be an option. What I'm seeing on cap-part.com is from a 3.5. Does the trim level on the vehicle matter? Seems I can get an 80k trans for $700 or less. Do they not grenade like the CL's do?
I wont even touch rebuilding one of these transmissions, they are beyond a total bitch. My usual remedy is to get a 05-06 odyesse trans with low miles and drop it in, there is a thread on here that outlines what has to be done to make it fit, but if you just look at the two transmissions side by side you should see what has to be transferred from the old trans to the new.
Hope it's ok to contact you like this. I've got a 99 CL 3.0 with a hurt trans. Got first and second, no 3rd, 4th, or reverse. In fact it puts out a nasty grind when I shift to reverse. (I bought it like this). I've been digging through the trans threads for a few months looking for rebuild tips, but havne't found any decent write ups. I've rebuilt a handful of motors, and do most of the mechanical work for my friends and family, but I haven't been into an auto trans in about 20 years, and then it was a GM unit (that worked out fine). Is this CL trans something I dare tackle? From the limited pics I've seen they don't look terribly complicated, but pics don't always tell the whole story. Got any advice you can give?
Thanks, Brad
