what coilovers are available?

I'm looking to improve the handling via coilovers. I'll also do a larger rear sway bar before the coilovers. For street use mainly. Maybe autoX or track once a year. Which coilovers do you recommend?

I'm leaning towards the Ksports

Other ones for the ILX seem to be
D2
Megan
Tein

Are there any others? Also do the Ksports ride too rough? Even with 36 adjustments available, I read about someone that said it rode too rough even on the softest setting.

I've driven a Lotus elise - super hard suspension, 05 STi hard suspension right below the lotus, '12 wrx fairly decent handling suspension that wasn't hard on the back

D2 has custom spring rates. Go with them and run 14/10 if you want stiff or 12/8 if you want something stuff but not too stiff.

Im running isc and I don't suggest them. Long story can be found in my thread. I love how they perform but custom service is one of the worst I have ever seen.

Tein is great too. D2 will allow you to go lower.

I don't suggest megan. I'd use them for simple stuff like braces and even exhaust. But never for a vital piece like coilovers.

^^^yea I've been following your thread and also read about your troubles with isc.

What are your thoughts on the ksports? From their site spring rates are 7.5/7

I'm between the D2's and the ksports at this point.

the goal of a great handling ride is to be balanced.

too thick of a front sway bar and you get major under steer.
too thick of a rear sway bar and you get major over steer.
same thing with spring rates. Acura doesnt disclose their spring rates but we have to assume that the car is understeer happy from the factory.

understeer is safer.

I like the ksports just because of their balanced spring rates of 7.5kg front and 7kg rear.
that will give you the most balanced ride ever!

kg/mm to lbs/in
-----------------------------
16 = 896
15 = 840
14 = 784
13 = 728
12 = 672
11 = 616
10 = 560
9.0 = 504
8.5 = 476
8.0 = 448
7.5 = 420
7.0 = 392
6.5 = 364
6.0 = 336
5.5 = 308
5.0 = 280
4.5 = 252
4.0 = 224
3.0 = 168
2.0 = 112

You can also try most 9th gen Civic SI coilovers. Buddy Club (I'd really recommend), Function and Form, BC racing, Feal Suspension (great stuff), Depends on what you want. D2 is Taiwan made, not that great. But for daily driving it'll do. But I bet they blow WAY before the Buddy Club's or Feal Suspension sets do.

I've been browsing the 9th gen civic si forums. Especially when I was thinking about buying an Si before I got the ILX. Glad i got the ILX. Will MY14+ civic si coilovers fit our ILX's?

If your ILX is 2013-2015, then the coilover from MY14+ Civic will be a direct bolt on

I love how you are still pushing suspension components for the ILX after selling me a system that does not fit the ILX they were advertised to fit then only own up to replacing 1/2 of what doesnt fit properly.

I wont ever suggest anyone buy anything from XLR8 until they have owned up to the business they are in and refund me for what they sold me that doesnt fit my damn car.

For the record. XLR8 (specifically Joshua) sold me ISC coilovers for nearly 900$ on sale (dont remember exact price). Rears fit perfect but front DID NOT. They were off by at least a few inches. XLR8 would NOT give me a refund because they said I already installed the parts. Complete bullshit. The parts were supposed to fit then did not. I installed half of one system that ended up not fitting as advertised. That in and of itself is false advertisement.

XLR8 attempted to make good but the company ISC did not work with them and XLR8's "best move" was to not give me my money back for the parts that dont fit OR even replace them with ones that do. All Josh would do for me is give me a discount code or some free xlr8 monopoly money to spend in his shop on anything else I may want that wont fit my damn car.

All the while I waited to figure out the issue and waited for my parts to arrive again; the situation took so long there is literally no way anywhere for me to file a complaint against them aside from the BBB.

So in the end. XLR8 got ISC to replace my bottom mounts but NEVER replaced my endlinks.
I still expect XLR8 to own up to their bullshit and refund me what we both can agree is the cost of endlinks.

Until then DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM XLR8 BECAUSE THEY DONT KNOW IF THE PARTS THEY SELL FIT AND THEY CANT HELP YOU IF WHAT THEY SELL YOU DOESNT FIT!

Yup, I'm sure they just ran down to the accounting department and are cutting you a check as we speak. I'm sure what you wrote above is 100% the way to resolve a problem.

Believe me dude. They never planned on doing shit. Last I heard from either company was probably over a year ago and not without me asking politely if anything has changed. Dont pretend like I burned any bridges just now. At this point I dont expect anything from either company and I will just warn people to stay away from xlr8 because if something goes wrong on their end they wont help you out. I cut my losses with both companies. I got the parts to fit WELL ENOUGH. I still have no endlinks but it was made clear neither company gives a rats ass.

So go ahead and be a tool bag. Stick up for a sponsor that sold a part that cant fit then wouldnt refund it. That is insanely poor business ethic.

Would be pretty cowardly to demand AZ take my honest review down. I can supply emails where they blamed a Mercedes tech for not knowing what he was talking about when he told me not to just go ahead and drill out the bolt sizes I needed as that would void my warranty. XLR8 rep, JOSH, was less than respectful when telling me my friend had no idea what he was saying... only to have ISC then say "no dont do what Josh is saying."

Frankly. I have only said two or three bad things about them. If they got AZ to remove my post I would start making my voice much more heard on a lot of other websites.

Josh did reach out to ISC multiple times to try and get the issue resolved. I personally followed up with them a couple of times as well. When getting the modified endlinks wasn't happening we offered the amount as a credit towards any other item we have. That was a real value and not monopoly money. We've discussed this in depth previously and I won't thread hi-jack here.

You can also view our full terms of service, returns policy, and refund policy on our website:
http://store.excelerateperformance.com/return-policy

We always put our best effort towards helping our customers and offering honest advice and quality parts. Out of the countless happy customers we have it's unfortunate this occurred. If you ever need any advice or would like to apply the credit please let us know. We would never demand AZ remove a vendor review if it is honest and civil, which you are.

There are a few other coilover options for the ILX. Needless to say, the ISCs are no longer my recommendation.

Josh did make an effort. I personally care more about results than effort. ISC ignored the last couple E-mails from all of us. A+ for effort but it didnt get me what I paid for in the end.
You, as the company I purchased from, owe it to me to get me what I paid you for.
You failed to do so. Bottom line.

To my knowledge I never once got a response over the endlinks.

Last e-mail from Josh on March 3rd was "We need at least an updated/ETA for when the customer will recieve the endlinks that are needed."

To which there was no reply and I have seen no effort on your part since.

You guys didnt offer me any compensation solely for the endlinks. You guys offered compensation for
the "difference in sale price" which is $48 and a 10% discount code in store.

So far my experience with XLR8/Excelerate has been anything but pleasant.
First I wanted the track prep you guys had for sale only to find you didnt have any and said it would be months before any came in. So I opted for what Josh suggested.

Not even months later you guys got the exact set up I wanted and put it on sale for cheaper than I had paid for the second choice set up. That is all you have attempted to compensate for. The difference in that sale price (+10% discount of course )

I got the set up I paid for. It didnt fit. Any company worth half their weight in dirt would offer a full refund for a part that didnt fit as advertised. Let alone an integral part of how our car functions and you guys simply wanted me to drill out the hole to make fit. Only to have ISC come running in to say NO! DO NOT DO THAT, YOU WOULD VOID THE WARRANTY! So lets put aside that your suggestions as a company are anything but rock solid.

I demanded a refund at that time and was told I did not deserve one because I ATTEMPTED to make the damn part fit. That is WRONG XLR8. I had no way to know a part did not fit before trying. YOU TOLD ME IT WOULD. That is false advertisement. You denied me a refund on a part that did not fit as you advertised. This is the reason why I could never suggest anyone doing business with you because that just reflects extremely poor business ethic.

Nothing was helpful or honest about how you guys did business with me. I asked for a refund for a part that did not fit as advertised and I was denied. You guys should have just let me ship the damn part back and given me my refund on the sale price and called it a day. I work for a company that has plenty of times given a few grand back in refund for merchandise that does not work as the company advertised. It happens.
You guys conducted extremely poor business ethic and denied a refund based on false advertisement. Then proceeded to instruct me to void the warranty.

I thank you again for your offer to "make right" and extend a discount and possibly even that $48 but you have to understand that in no way coveres the cost of the endlinks or the time I put into making these coilovers fit properly. Aside from the fact that I am sure these coils have ruined the OEM endlinks I have been running since. But we all know youd never take credit for the OEM endlinks Ive worn into the ground waiting for you guys to get the endlinks I paid for send out. But as I said in the emails I am cutting my losses because pursuing anything further would just be stressful.

For the record... The endlinks I am owed are worth more than $48 +10% discount. We all know this.

I will be happy when you guys figure out what aftermarket endlinks will fit my 2013 ILX Tech and send me those free of charge. I would completely forget about the nonsense this purchase has brought on and call everything even. Just send me aftermarket endlinks that fit!!!
