My 2014 Crystal Black Pearl ILX

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to share some pictures. I purchased the last September. This is now the third Acura that I have owned. First one was a 2006 TSX and a 2008 RDX.

I see most people like to black out Chrome Trim but eventually I will be going for more of the VIP look.

Mods
Oem Front Lip
Oem Side Skirts
STI Lip
Oem Rear Spoiler
Rear Window Spoiler
Chrome Door Handles
Chrome Trunk Lid
Chrome Lower Door Trim
Tinted Windows
Remote Starter W/ Two Way Paging Alarm

Just paid the car off so I'm all tapped out for funds for the rest of this year and early next year. I'll probably continue modding the car next summer. My future plans include new wheels and a drop.

Love it. Glad to see you in the forums.

I need that handle trim and lower chrome trim. Looks great.

Any thoughts to add some fogs?

Thanks Jon! I do plan on getting fogs in the future as well the hybrid front grill inserts. After that I'm pretty much done with the front end. For the rear I either plan on going with the OEM rear lip or the 2016 rear bumper with 2016 tail lights.

Wow, looks great! The ILX looks so clean. Is that the base model? I see HIDs but no fogs...

Thanks panamera125. Yes it is a base model. I installed a HID kit when I got the car.

Nope cutting the bumper was not needed. There's still a 1/4 inch of space between the bumper and the exhaust tip. In case anyone is wondering the exhaust tip was only $10 on ebay.

Not a bad mod for $10.

I would recommend painting/colormatching the front STI lip. I will probably pick up that rear chrome trim, looks nice, kinda OEM. HA thats pretty cool, 10 bucks for exhaust tip? Not bad at all. It does make the car look sportier.

I hope to paint the lip some time next summer. I figured if I had it painted this year it would of gotten messed up in the winter time. We get pretty bad winters over here in Chicago. If your car is dropped it basically becomes snow plow.

Love the chrome trim on the trunk. Did you use just plain chrome stripping or did you find an actual trunk piece for it ?

For the trunk I used stainless steel window belt trim. It's not easy to trim because it is stainless steel. You would probably need some good shears or you can saw it off edges on an angle. After that you would have to sand it down a bit.

So with your exhaust tip mod, i did some searching found another one on amazon, turned out to be a fail because it wouldnt fit in our ilx exhaust..

Amazon.com: 2.5" Dia Inlet Silver Tone Titanium Blue Exhaust Pipe Tail Muffler Tip: Automotive Amazon.com: 2.5" Dia Inlet Silver Tone Titanium Blue Exhaust Pipe Tail Muffler Tip: Automotive

it looks like the same exact design as yours but just titanium tip.

Yes that one on amazon looks pretty similar. The only way I got the exhaust tip to work was to remove the inner sawtooth clamps. The exhaust tip is just held on by the bolts only, it is still very sturdy without the sawtooth clamps.

Dumb question

Are all ILX 2.0 auto and the 2.4 Manual? Can you get 2.0 with manual and 2.4 with auto?

Also visually from the outside how can you tell the difference between 2.4 and 2.0?

As far as I know there is no way to tell the difference from a 2.0 or 2.4 from the exterior. The 2.4 is only available with a manual trans and the 2.0 is only available in auto.

Spot on. Just to finish up this question, the 2016 model will have only a 2.4 with a dual clutch auto. So no 2.0 anymore, and no manual. Only visual clues are inside, where the current 2.4 has deviated stitching, red instrument cluster, stainless pedals, (no paddles of course!) and obviously a stick.

So 2016 on, no more manual trans Acura?

are you referring to the three bolts that are on the inner pipe? the inner pipe is welded to the outer so i cant take the inner off if thats what youre saying

No I am not referring to the inner pipe. I am referring to the sawtooth clamps located inside the inner pipe. On the model that I purchased they are removable. The three bolts on the inner pipe are what is used to hold the exhaust tip in place.

Interesting I removed all three of those and I still can't get mine to fit, it'll fit but there won't be room to use those clamps and its aiming down to the ground lol

Probably not, but maybe - Honda may be bringing the 276 bhp (NOT whp) civic type r engine to America, but they havent decided what platform it will actually be in. Could be an American civic type R, but I could see a brand new car in 3-4 years with that motor - something like an updated RSX. To be honest tho, once you start getting at that HP and probably higher price range - id probably be looking at something with RWD or AWD, would depend a lot on price point. Look up the motor you'll see stories about it coming to America.

Just got my hybrid grill and fog lights. Almost done modding the grill. It probably won't be installed until spring time though.

Did quick photoshop of it installed.

We had a pretty decent weather this weekend so I had some time to install the Hybrid grill,Osram drl lights and fog lights. Also I disabled the factory DRL lights.

Sorry for the late reply Jon I just check this thread again. I did take the STI lip off for the winter. I will be putting it back on pretty soon. It's spring here Chicago and we're still getting snow. Winter has been pretty brutal here this year.

Experimenting with a black grill surround. Also reinstalled the STI lip.
