Multi-Room Audio
House is pre-wired in 4 zones for multi-room audio:
Dining room, Family room, basement and outside. I potentially may want to add a fifth zone upstairs on the bedroom level.
So. How do I power these bad boys? I got a quote from a professional installer but I really think that since the wiring in 4 zones is already complete there is no reason why I can't cut some holes and mount in-wall/in-ceiling speakers myself and just plug in an amp/receiver.
Anyone have a set-up at home? Finding 8-channel amplifiers is proving more difficult than I thought. Maybe I'm just not searching the right brands/stores.
I'm thinking Sonos is the way to go as well.

Sorry, I have been so busy I haven't been on the site much as of late.
Do you want to listen to one source throughout the house or separate sources in different zones? Sonos is surely a great system. If you want one source throughout, than an 8 channel or 12 channel amp if you want room to grow will work great. Than you would only need 1 Sonos Connect as a source. If multiple sources is desired or multiple streams, than you can either do a single amp with multiple Connects or you can forego the multichannel amp and just get a Sonos Connect:amp per each zone. If you cannot hard wire one of the Sonos pieces to your network, make sure you also get yourself a Sonos Bridge as one piece of the system has to be hardwired, and then it will create it's own Mesh network. If you are having problems sourcing equipment, feel free to PM me or to ask any questions.

Yeah, one source I think is all I'm interested in. Mainly streaming music is what we listen to in the house. Our iPod libraries aren't very extensive.
I like the idea of a 12 channel amp. That way I could run speakers to the garage and the bedroom in the future.
Thanks!
