Budget Plasma vs LED

I just ordered this from best buy. Wont be picking up till the weekend.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/51-class...asma&cp=1&lp=5

Got it $50 off so paid $650 including tax.

I've been reading about differences between plasma and LED tv's and I see a lot of people like the high end plasmas and they usually recommend those.

But nothing is really said about a budget plasma and how they compare to a budget LED tv?

My living room doesnt get to much sunlight in it so I'm not that worried about glare. We'll see when I put it up.

I'm a light gamer. Most of my watching is tv shows/movies. Seldom sports right now since I don't have a full fledged cable package as of now.

You'll be OK, I have a 50" Samsung plasma (5 years old), great HDTV.
It's very hard to tell the video quality differences from the name brand HDTV's.

you got me...
cause i dont wanna put more money into a tv yet. Trying to save up for other bigger things

I still want the best budget tv! Like if I got a 50" LED with 60Hz refresh rate I would probably not be happy.

Anyway getting it saturday hopefully. Gonna be a lot better than the 29" I'm rocking right now haha

You'll love the new TV. Sammy makes great products and their plasmas are no exception. We have an 8 year old plasma and it still looks great. Just be careful with static images. Even though the new TV's are much better, don't leave images on the screen for too long.

i'm still rocking a 6 or 7 year old 40 inch Sony....and it wasnt even the top of the line Sony...
came with the ps3 for $1700.

it still has great PQ, blacks are blacks, HD is HD at 1080p.
once this one goes out, I'll probably pick up a 60 inch or larger.

^ Yeah, our main TV is a 61" Sammy DLP which is about 7 years old, but looks just as good as day 1. I keep seeing deals for LED TV's but can't justify it just yet b/c this TV still looks so good...

Nice, I'm hoping this one lasts a good amount of time! Its why I'm even shelling out the $$ for this tv lol. Even though you guys wont consider this $$$

This is my first big purchase with my relatively new job!

Hundreds is still a lot of money!!! lol
I think we all value our hard earned cash.

$650 is a great deal for a tv that size.

^Honestly depends. I guarantee my properly tuned plasma will knock the socks off most peoples properly tuned LCDs.

However in 2014, thermal and electrical concerns are big enough, and the gap between the types small enough, it only makes sense to buy a LCD.

Before: ignore that dirty yellow color lol I dunno what my phone was doing.

After

I'm liking the TV so far. When I first turned it on, the brightness was so low i got a ltl scared, but when i turned it up, it was just fine. Really no glare from the room with the lights on. I have no window thats facing the TV so I shouldnt get any during the day either.

So much better though. As you can see i really needed the upgrade

Ah, missed this thread. The Sammy Plasmas are

The only shitty thing about Samsung is their apps support and bullshit modular processor evo kits.
