Anyone know anything about TV repair?
Hi,
I have a 40" Mitsubishi Tube TV which is about 10 years old now. Over the last few months, the picture seems to be getting bigger and bigger, cutting off a few inches of the picture from both sides of the screen. Does anyone know what could go wrong that would cause this type of problem? I'd like to fix this TV but don't wanna spend 500 bucks paying someone to do it when I can get a brand new one for a few hundred more. If I can do it myself, I'd consider it based on the cost of the part.
Thanks!

It's been a hell of a long time since I knew anything about TVs, but I believe your problem is bad capacitors. Figure an hour or two of labor. It will be a few hundred to have someone fix.
Oh, as far as doing it yourself. Don't. There are very high voltages in the TV even when off. You can fry yourself if you don't know what you can and can't touch.
