What bird house?
....
fixing plaster cracks in ceiling and walls
sanding and refinishing fireplace
caulking exterior cracks and wood filling rot
repairing bubbled plaster wall areas
vestibule book case build
molding install in dining room
cut sand and stain floor at burn marks and holes
fill cracks at floor molding crown molding and molding joints
guess I didn't really include every before and after shot of each mini project. It's kind of been a whirl wind of stuff. Something as simple as painting a room ends up being a four day job or filling 100 yrs or hairline cracks and joints in plaster, molding, etc. just to prep for paint.
Found a REALLY good combo for cracks. It's called Krack Kote, comes with a tub of caulk and mesh. Quick dry and sandable. After sanding, you hit it with a spray of Good Bye Cracks to blend the wall surface, then a light spritz of wall texture. Steal a paint chip from behind a radiator to paint match. Hit it with one coat of paint. Then take paint half way dry with a fine brush and feather and blend the area of repair. Viola.

no clue. the house across the street has something similar, and it is still present. I think it might be vent.
one thing that is strange is that some bedrooms have this center mounted ceiling "nipple". and there is about 20 coats of paint on it, so i presume it is original. i am not sure if there is electrical behind it, or if it served some other purpose. it looks like a cap to chandelier. but i have also read that some of these older houses had a combination of gas lamps and electrical lamps, and that these were mounts for gas lamps. i need to check the attic to see if there are gas pipes running to them. i am on the fence on either trying to leverage off the mounts to install chandeliers, or if i should have someone install recessed lighting in the upstairs bedrooms. Although, i am leery of that causing future cracks in the ceiling plaster.
