Buzzed my main contractor in the gate. So, I stepped out to the living to meet him, and I saw my painter correcting his worker on something he was doing with the circular saw...right then I saw the painter reach over and Im thinking WTF ARE YOU DOING....low and behold he catches his forearm on the blade and is bleeding everywhere. Thankfully, I had an old towel handy to wrap his arm, and there is an urgent care right downstair in my building.
8 stitches...they sent him to hospital to get them.

So long as any of those contracts were drawn up with a completion date; bargaining power for additional savings is on your side prior to making final payment since they did not meet your milestones / deadline.
Many moving pieces here... be sure to keep your cool if you want each respective lead to spearhead expediting materials & or services within your allotted time frame to complete this renovation.
You can go after them once the project is complete.

The cabinets were sourced through the GC. Their cabinet girl fucked up. They are currently working to find alternative ways to give us what we want...or we will be compensated (in which I will wait to see what they offer...and counter if need be)
I had a long talk with the guy supervising my project. The one I've dealt with since the beginning. They are working with me. He said their cabinet girl (another Israeli girl) basically replied "so what they are cabinets" and got reamed out for it.
Anyway, the cabinet guys are installing now, we'll see what happens.
Good god, this all makes me nervous for when we start our project in a few weeks...
Sorry to hear about your struggles with this one, it seems that contractors are sometimes just as bad as car dealerships.
Really isn't the contractor's fault per say. Its the idiot they have for cabinets. But they see like they trying to make good.
Thankfully, I'm on set the next two days so my dad came to hang out and watch the workers. Its been nice not dealing with it. The supervisor looked into all the options and we have decided to stick with forging ahead with my current options (not the what we original were sold/ordered) and we will be compensated for it. How much, I do not know yet...they will most likely become a discussion.
So, with all that, the cabinets are coming out nice. They should be finished or mostly finished tomorrow and starting the bathroom cabinets.
The painters are whatever at this point. They are doing shit at their own pace, I've given up there. As long as the work gets done and done well.
There are filler pieces that go in to fill those gaps. Guessing it's probably there to allow the door on that side of the cabinet to open more than 90deg unless it's a single door pantry. In which case I would have just made one of the other cabinets 2" bigger but whatevs.
I mean. I WANTED a drawer over the trash pull out. It's their idiot cabinet girl who said it didn't come that way. So all that stress over nothing.
Still asking for some kind of compensation over this. Because the doors and drawers have built in handles and we initially wanted flat to put our own hardware on. Though in the end we really like the look...
cabinet guys were off starting a new job today. They'l be back to finish tomorrow. It gave the painters a sawdust free day to come work on the main areas. Tomorrow they'll finish painting all the trim...and Im going to have them redo the accent wall. Even at 2 shades darker, there is very little variance in the grey tones so you can't see anything. So, they'll do that tomorrow, too.
Counter guy came and measured today. Counter should be installed Tuesday.
I did that in the house I'm moving out of...
HUGE benefit is you go from 220 degree bulbs heating up the room to about 90 degrees...
then you can not bump AC down to keep you cool.
I put in 6 - 6" recessed LED bulbs in my living room and it's lite up like a stadium while only using 80 watts or something so I added a dimmer.
Have everything on dimmers. Though i'll need to switch them to LED compatible ones, but thats simple.
I have recessed lighting in the kitchen/living area, the hall and entryway. 12 total. I went with a company called Hyperikon. San Diego company. The light have a more modern look with a 90+ CRI (color accuracy) and I went with 3000K color temp. Not too blue/cool, not too warm.
