I hear ya.

I think the blue looks a lot better in person. The pics are not great. I agree that the tan/beige was better with the cabinets. The cabinets will eventually be white. We're also going to paint the table and chairs. We just haven't gotten to that yet.

My wife is not a tan/beige gal. She needed some color. Happy wife - happy life.

Spring Time Is Here

The wife and I spent the last 2 days outside working on the flower beds. I am getting them ready for mulch. This week I am getting 8 scoops of mulch delivered and hopefully I'll have it mostly laid by the end of next weekend. Looks like Friday will be my first vacation day of the year.

Last weekend I swapped out the light fixtures outside the deck. I still have the garage ones and the roadside lamp to replace but the deck ones needed to get done first. One of them was broken.

Old:

New:

The front beds before mulch. I still have some final weeding to do but I will do that just before I mulch.

I also re-did a lot of the front lights. I changed all the burned out bulbs and changes a lot of the plastic shields. There was a mix of green and black fixtures. All of the green ones were moved to the back. The black ones are in the front and side.

This is a shot of the bed in the back. It looks like crap but there is an ivy that covers the entire bed. By May it will be covered. We trimmed it back and got a lot of the dried leaves out. I may not mulch this bed.

Wild flowers. The entire back line is wild flowers. Those will be blooming in a month or so. The row of shrubs in my neighbor. He didn't trim them back this year. Back looks like crap.

I haven't mowed yet. I am holding off as long as I can. I maybe have a week or 2 left. I have to resead a couple small areas but the lawn held up very well this winter.

I started on the black stuff yesterday evening after work. This is what was in my drive way minus about 2-3 cubic yards.

This is what it looks like on the ground. The pics don't do it justice. I'll take some better ones later.

I'm also hoping to get some work done on the inside. I am setting up a charging station and I want to service my lawn tractor.

Fun times.

Updated Pics

I am not thrilled with how these pics came out so I will probably take some more. I took them in the bright sun and they came out a bit blurry. But it may be a while before I get new ones.

Front Yard:

This petals from this tree is crazy. The front is covered in pink/white.

Side View:

This bed is going to be a PITA. The weeds that grow out of the patch in the back is nuts. And I can't spray it with anything because it grows between the flowers.

The small green patches in the front will become some really cool flowers.

Side of Garage:

These are vibrant as all hell.

Back Patio:

We are thinking about building in a fire pit in the patio. Not sure where yet.

Behind the Deck:

I really didn't mulch this one. Partly because I ran out of mulch and because there is a ground cover ivy that will do the work.

Back Yard:

Neighbors were supposed to trim their forsythia bushes but never did. Wild flowers will grow in within the next month or so.

Elliott's Training Ground:

Our neighbors are giving us a swing set that their kids have out grown. It will go in front of those pines.

Grass....Grass....Grass.

Now all I have to do is keep it green.

I have a few trees that have roots coming out the ground. They do not affect me mowing but eventually I will have to get some dirt and top soil back there. This is the worse one.

This is a car forum so....Garage.

And we all know that you need a 25HP motor to handle a small half ache of land. Thing's a beast.

Work desk. I need to clear everything out and organize the shelves. I also have to find a good storage spot for all the extra siding and hard wood.

I will take some interior pics at some point. We have too much clutter to clean up. And we have to paint Elliott's room. The painting may start this weekend.

Thanks.

Once I get the outside under control all I have to do is water and mow. It's really not too bad. A lot of work in the early spring to get things ready and a lot of work at the end of the year to clean up for winter.

Your place has some really nice hardscape. The firepit will be a nice touch.

Oh, and I like the wild free-growing forsythia. I don't blame them for not trimming it.

I don't completely mind it but I have to clean under them and it is a PITA.

Sometimes you just have to trim your bushes D.

I concur with everyone else. The house and yard look awesome, Ravi!

How often do you guys use your sunroom? Did you guys put furniture out there? I saw in the photos it's heated so it's more than just a three season room I guess. I've been floating around the idea of someday adding either a sun room or screened in porch on our house but I'm not sure how often it'd be used.

We use it all the time. It's a mess. Elliott uses it as an art room. We have a 6 ft folding table in the middle that is covered in art supplies. We also have a chair in the corner and a large computer cabinet for art supplies. I also have a couple house plants in there.

Also the heater you see in the pics was not used last winter. The room is well insulated and there is a vent from the home furnace that did most of the work.

It is a really nice room to have.

Personally I rather have carpet on the bedroom floors. Our ground floor is hard wood minus the office. If I choose to get away from carpet in that room then we will carry the hardwood through that room as well.

I swapped the blades in the mower before I mowed today. These replaced the blades I had.

They did a really good job.

The garage is frustrating me.

I only have one electrical outlet on the wall and it is over next to the mower. There are outlets on the ceiling. I don't absolutely need outlets next to the work bench but I would like them. I have the back up battery for the drill down in the work room of the basement.

I am thinking of moving the work bench under the cabinet shown above. I'll have to move the cabinet on the right to fit the peg board. I'll also have to move the string cutter.

I will move Elliott's 4 wheeler and bikes to where the bench on the left is. See below.

The more costly option will be to have an electrician run a line for some additional outlets. That is the better option. I really like having the bench in front of the cars. Easier for when I am tinkering.

What do you ladies think?
