Cool thread idea
Here was one of my favorite DIY projects that I did to the house. I had an old dilapidated shelf in my laundry room that wasn't even secured or screwed into the cinder block wall. I also had some old pine boards from a riser that I built from an old bed frame that I no longer had, so my buddy and I made a new shelf the one night and used masonry screws to hang this thing on the wall.
Here is the old crappy shelf that was literally collapsing

And here's the new one that we built, you literally can hang on it and do pull-ups it's that sturdy. It looks small in the pics, but it's 6 ft long.

And all stocked up

I bought 2 more pine planks to extend this shelf and wrap it around the laundry room, just haven't had the time or ambition to tackle that project yet, but I'll post more pics in here when I get around to it

Original floor from 1918, a lot of work went into refinishing this. The base shoe and trim had paint on it and the floor had a big dark stain in the middle, I don`t even want to know from what.

Working on a new work bench for myself. The old one was far too big at 4ftx8ft such that I couldn't reach the back. There was also not a lot of useful storage or anything so it was always a mess.
New bench has dedicated storage for air compressor and a recessed section for table saw so that the either end can be a feed area for the saw. On top of this, I'm putting a built in down draft section for sanding, adding a dust collection system, plumbing in compressed air and electrical throughout, and building a pull out cart that stores underneath for even more space when needed and no storage concerns when not. Should be mighty fine when I'm done. Picture of the progress...

Also, going to HD tonight to get the electrical parts for the compressor and vac system as well as a few outlets for the back wall. Will probably grab the LED tube light thingy from Costco for overhead lighting.

Bought the rest of the plywood and electrical stuff last night. I have the day off tomorrow so I'll finish up the big parts and save the dust collector stuff for later.

Today is my last day on this job, the professionals electricians, plumbers, carpenter and wood floor installers are taking over after today.
The numbers behind my work, pre prep and prep.
300 hours of demo, patching, priming, cleaning and removal of junk from the house.
4-1800gotjunk trucks. Previous home owner paid for that. By having a junky house they lost out of an extra 2800.00.
5 pickup trucks full of junk
5 trailers full of construction junk
5 gallons of bin primer to cover up the rank smell.
A "lot" of cleaning
The pros love us because we set them up perfectly every time. Here`s a few pics.Original had to scrap all the glue off that was holding plastic tile.
Patched up with new outlets for fridge, stove and
microwave hood.
Painted.

Black gas pipe + a few 90° elbows, a couple of Ts, flanges to attach it to the wall.
Shelves are 100 yr old floor joists from a building in NYC. They were ripped down into 3/4" boards. Tons of character and patina.

Anybody ever install cabinets onto concrete in the basement? Working on a bar reno (pics later) and need to put cabinets down in the basement. Do I need to elevate them or put a moisture barrier underneath? My basement doesn't have moisture issues but just curious.
