I think I'm doing Yoga X for the first time tonight. I don't hold out a lot of hope that I'll be able to do the whole thing.

That was tough. No way I can do all the moves. I was drenched with sweat during the Warrior moves.

So I've read through the thread and am really thinking about buying this. My only concern is that I will probably only do this 3-4 times a week as I am training for a half marathon and will be cycling a good amount for upcoming centuries. I'm not looking to drop any significant weight, 5'-8", 180lbs, although a few lbs wouldn't hurt. Really looking to keep what muscle I have and tone it up again as I haven't been to the gym for about 6 months. I've seen a lot of people on here who are doing it 6 days a week, is any one doing this program 3-4 times a week instead? How is it?

i'm doing this 3-4 times a week since i play basketball and soccer during the week.

i'm still planning on doing all of the discs and exercises, but i just won't be able to finish them during the 90 day period. but that's ok with me.

you can sub. the plyo and yoga days with your training days and be left with the basic 3-4 days of resistance and lifting workouts

I'm on a 3-4 times a week plan as well (just started) with the other days cycling either indoors or out. I'm really early into it so it's impossible to determine if it'll hinder my progress. I figure that I'm exercising muscles I otherwise wouldn't, and if anything the plyometrics will help me with my short-term riding power.

That's pretty much what I thought too Mike. Between running, cycling, and the time my dog requires for her exercise, I just don't have time to join a gym and am looking for something that I can do at home fairly quickly for my upper body. That last thing I wanna do is look like a Schleck, although I think that would probably be physically impossible for me.

Yup, that's what I'm looking for plus hitting the leg muscles that are neglected by cycling (calves). Today I'm just going to do an easy Spinervals because (a) my next P90x is Back & Biceps and (b) I gave blood today so I'm not looking to strain my arms.

Last night I did legs & back + ab ripper x. Somehow today I have a pulled muscle on the right side of my neck and somehow I tweaked a tendon in my left thumb moving damp laundry from the washer to the dryer afterward.

Time to stop off and get some ibuprofen.

I have officially lost 5lbs in 1 week of this and a change of diet. I fully expect better results as i get better with the change of diet part and get into the workout more. Im also cycling for 30-40 min every day (that legs/weather permits)

No soda, plenty of water, Healthy foods (no more eating out like i used to) smoothies, protein, chicken, whole grains, natural stuff. Its not bad, just takes some time to adjust. I actually really like it. My body likes it too. I feel much better in general.

I did the Kenpo X last night. I get higher heart rates on my bike, but it was good to get some cardio from muscles other than my quads.

I'm starting over starting today.
Not because I didn't do well, but being gone for a week not being able to do the workout or diet at all is .

I want a consistent measure of results, so I guess I'll consider what I started the 1st of March just a 2 week 'prep'.

I have the same problem with Thursday happy hour special at Milwaukee Ale House. I haven't skipped a Thursday in a while. $2.50 pints FTW!

While the diet is probably important for leaning out, following it to the T is probably not necessary to achieve some significant changes. If you were gorging on BWW and beer every night, you probably wouldn't be of the mind to do P90X anyway.

When you all bought the program, what other things did you buy that is really helping? (Like the heart monitor, yoga mat, etc)

the yoga mat helped a lot. i have carpet in my living room, but the yoga mat still helps. it's a lot more comfortable for my body and i don't slip.

i bought push up bars and resitance bands. i have adjustable weights too, but for some of the exercises, i have to use the bands.

a pullup bar would be helpful too, and it's something i'll probably get soon. but they teach you how to do the pullup workouts with the bands.

so:
yoga mat
resistance bands
pushup bars
pullup bar (in future)

I need to get a mat. I one that I bought for doing crunches back when my basement floor was just bare concrete, but it's not big enough for the yoga.

I bought a pull-up bar, even though I still need to do the chair-assist variety but I'll get there (combination of very little upper body work the past year plus lots of leg muscle mass from biking). The resistance bands are tempting as an in-between to allow more reps.

Got some cheap push-up bars to keep my wrists straight.

Cheap towels to wipe down occasionally.

Water bottles.

A small set of dumbbells (already had them).

Damn.
Did plyo this morning and it SUCKED! I don't know if it was just cause I woke up early to do it, or if I didn't do the workouts at all during spring break, but I couldn't hardly keep up this morning. Hopefully it'll come back to me soon.
