Ouch.

Mary Katherine Lunges can suck it.

Mike, do you know exactly what the 'recovery drink' is? I considered buying it, but I already take a creatine supplement, and I was thinking that's partly what it was so I didn't bother.

The P90X recovery drink is just a tablespoon of Protein and a couple grams of Creatine with a 4:1 protein:carb ratio. Pretty simple.
I've never actually bought that specific drink myself as I can replicate it at home and actually tailor it a little better to my specific needs with the addition of glutamine, glucosamine and condroiten.

Damn, that's way more complete than I originally read - seems like a lot of carbs and not a lot of protein though...

P90X program actually endorses you taking creatine by putting it in their recovery drinks? Doesn't creatine blow you up if you ever stop working out

If by 'blow up', you mean gain water weight...it depends on what kind and brand of creatine you take. Some creatine formulas hardly make you gain water weight if any at all.

Plyo makes me want to die-o.

Making it through my third week and it's getting less painful but not easier. First week I pulled something in my quad doing plyo, and basically was sore from whatever muscle group I was using the next day. I also realized that I wasn't capable of keeping up with Tony. So I'm going to re-start the 90 days next week as now I can actually keep up and do the whole workout. I'm having trouble with the diet too. I feel stronger and look different but I'm only down 2 lbs.

Ohh yeah yoga sucks skip that shit. Unless of course your at a studio filled with girls in yoga pants!

^congrats!

how do you feel and/or look? noticeably different? weight loss?

i dunno if this is going to be a mistake, but i'm not going to be able to do this in 90 days since i play basketball and soccer on wednesdays and sundays, respectively. so i intend on not doing p90x during those days.

This is my second go-around with P90X - I started this round at 204 lbs. and I should end at 191-192 lbs. (I haven't weighed myself in a while). I've lost about 15 lbs. of bad weight and probably put on about 5-6 lbs. of good weight. If I would have stuck to my no-beer diet, I could have/should have lost 20 bad lbs. pretty easily. My first round last year, I started at 221 and ended at 194. Net loss overall between the two P90X sessions should be about 30 lbs.

I DEFINITELY feel much better than I did when I started 89 days ago. I just helped a friend move this last weekend and it was easy as pie, where my friends were huffing and puffing. I think I look much better, but I'll reserve judgment until comparing my "after" to my "before" pictures.

This 90-day workout/weight-loss was meant as a catalyst to my training for my October marathon. I start my 550 total mile training regimine for that as soon as I return from vacation. I expect to lose another 10lbs. before October.

Throughout this last 90-days, I've worked out 6 days a week, but have only done P90X specific workouts 3-4 days of the week. The other 2-3 days were supplemented by road running, basketball, biking, etc. and I'm still seeing nice results. Doing EVERY P90X workout EVERY day is not what gets you results. Doing SOMETHING everyday, 6-days a week is what gets you the results. The program is simply an easy to follow roadmap to your destination. So, do they chest, back, shoulders, arms workouts every week, but supplement some of the other cardio workouts for basketball or soccer and you'll be just fine.

First day done. I was surprised at how much strength I've maintained over the past 8 months--granted, it was pretty difficult with the extra 35lbs hanging over the floor. I'm going to go through all of the discs to see which ones I like; then supplement my own workouts in there. The point is getting me off the computer for 5-6 hours a week

Did the Plyo last night (I'm on day 2). Was much easier than the first day. Only ones I had trouble with were the calf-targeting exercises. Guess the cycling does do something for me -- quads and gluts are in good condition.

Stomach cramps, too much water in muscles? I don't know too much about it but a few friends who were on it lost a lot of mass when they stopped.

I've never had a problem with stomach cramps. And as far as water retention, it depends on what type & brand you get which helps determine that.

I was scared of them, 'til I did them. Didn't have time for P90x tonight (only had 45 minutes), so I did a quick recovery Spinervals workout on my new trainer.

I'm going to start this eventually. Damn all the excuses. I've been waiting to go snowboarding before I start this out since I didn't want to go snowboarding all sore and get a thigh or calf cramp halfway down the slope but since the trip's been postponed multiple times I think I'm going to just start it ASAP.

I remember someone mentioned substituting biking for yoga? I heard yoga is good for you but that shit does look boring.... but is biking a worthy substitute? I hope to get back my explosiveness by biking again

^ Yep. Impact training can only help with sports (snowboarding, skiing included).

Definitely skipping the yoga disk tonight. I don't need an hour of stretching. Hitting the treadmill instead.

i'm looking forward to the yoga disc.

i hear it's boring for the first 45 minutes.

but i've also heard from people that did the yoga disc, and they said it helped with flexibility, balance, etc for basketball and soccer. so i'm looking forward to it.

Definitely try yoga. One of the reasons why I really got interested in it was because I read somewhere that Ray Brown, a former NFL offensive lineman who did yoga regularly to keep his body flexible and strong even in old age. He was a regular starter until before he retired, and he's one of the oldest players to start a playoff game at age 43 an offensive lineman!!!

Being 300 lbs and playing offensive line surely isn't good for your knees and muscles/joints... but I think its a testament to yoga. EDIT: he actually did pilates. Similar though

How many games he started/missed in his career:

and an article if anyone wants to call
