its so painful to lose weight. i'm 5'10" and 4 years ago I weighted 215lbs and it took 8 months to become 163lbs. eat less and workout at gym 7 days a week.
now i'm at 185lbs. gained 15lbs from last fall. been partying too much.. back on diet again. eating chicken breast, boiled egg, banana, pear, etc... run 20 min on the treadmill or run outside when its warm and sunny. also lift weights.
i tried ellypticals but running is much much better at losing fat.

By the way, very good noticeable progress! The best thing to do is to make this a permanent lifestyle change, where being active is just something you do, not something you do to lose weight. Once the fat is gone (and really, you don't have too far to go), you'll be feeling good all the time if you eat clean and exercise on a regular basis.

Yeah I feel so much better. I am still working on making those lifestyle changes, last week I was lazy and didn't eat as well as I could have. The bad part is - the main reason I was lazy is because I noticed some results! bad thought process. I will get back on track this week though.
and for an update I have slowed down losing lbs. but my waist continues to shrink. Also my muscles are getting bigger and more defined. Most noticeably on my chest, shoulders, and abs.

Update
So I didn't work out at all over the summer but I still continued to lose weight. I think it was because of my diet, portion size, and cutting down on beer. I got down to 227lbs and am now at 230.
Since last week I have been working out 3x a week - doing cardio and lifting each time. The new apartment complex I live in has a nice but small 24hr gym. I am sooo sore!! I also plan on going to the driving range a least once a week.
Just wanted to give yall an update to let you know that I didn't slip back into my old ways. I have lost 15 lbs and plan losing 20 more. Thanks for all the support.

One Year Update :woot:
Since I have been back in school these past two semesters I have continued to work out. When I started this thread I weighted 245lbs. . . I am now at 220lbs!! I am satisfied with the rate I have been losing weight. Three weeks ago I decided to stop drinking except for certain occasions so I think that will drastically aide my efforts.
There is no way I am going back to that nasty lifestyle. . .
Thanks for all the support

Oh Hullow
if youre metabolism is anything like mine has been once you reach your target weight, be sure to treat yourself a bit as you should not go on a "diet" but rather a lifestyle change, one that you can live with for good. i for one, make it a habit to weigh myself everyday and monitor my body, as to not give it a chance to put on any weight without me noticing. i find it works great because the second i start putting any sort of weight on i crack the whip and make sure i dont fall back into old habits...and congrats on your accomplishments, i myself weighed 225 lbs around the time u first started this thread, im happy to say im at 160 myself currently so i defintely know what you are feeling right now when you look at yourself... all good things! haha.... keep up the good work.

Two Year Update!
Hey everyone. I started this thread two years ago weighing in at 245 and living a nasty lifestyle. The last time I checked in I was at 215. I can happily say I'm currently at 210 and have made a permanent lifestyle change I only work out 2x a week (30 min cardio and lifting). However, I dj 3x a week so I lift and carry all my gear up and down stairs etc. Not to mention that I'm working instead of going out.
It's crazy to go back and read my first post. I was in such a bad place. I can't stress how good it feels to be able to wear all my clothes!

5 Year Update
Crazy its been 5 years!!
To make a long story short I stuck around 215lbs up until march last year when I decided to begin exercising, eating better, and cut down on drinking.
I do is the P90x Yoga routine twice a week. Yoga coupled with weight loss has completely cured my lower back pains. Sleep quality has also improved as a result.
The weight loss was slow and steady. It really began to pick up late in the summer and I stopped at 183lbs (how much I weighed in HS!). I put on 5 pounds from november-now but am back to not drinking as much.
I'd have to say the most challenging aspect of the lifestyle change was eating the correct portions.

keep up the great work!
i must admit, while the changes i see in my body are very minimal, the fact that i see them is motivation enough for me to push harder. i hit the gym 2-3x week, and i'm considering signing up with a personal trainer.
my wife has a PT at our gym, and i am very proud of the results so far, both physically and mentally.
