Enough Is Enough
I have gained 60lbs in the past 2 years. I am living an unhealthy lifestyle. I eat at least one fast food meal per day . Nothing like Mcdonalds or BK but not like I should be. The most exercise I get is walking to and from class. Freshman year I was 6'3" 185lbs. Now I'm in the middle of my junior year and weigh 245lbs.
I am sick of living like this. I fucking have stretch marks now. When I was slim I used to see fat people and tell my self there is now way I would let myself get to that point............but I am heading that direction fast. Tomorrow I am going to the mall to buy some running shoes. I can't live like this anymore. Only 2 pairs of jeans fit me now.
My plans are to run 5-6 days a week for at least 30 min (for the first 2 weeks) then add on more time as I get into shape. Also to lift 3x a week. I was very used to this routine freshman year when I played football so it won't be a total shock. My parents bought me a cook book for x-mas. I already took a list to the grocery store and bought some food.
Too many blowjobs and not enough fucking.

Good luck
But are you going to be running on a treadmill or outside.
at 245 you will be putting an enormous amount of pressure (up to 10x your body weight) on your knees and if you have ever felt any pain from your knees you might want to avoid running for now, you might want to start out on a stationary bike until you drop a little weight.

Also, do some research on not only what to eat, bu HOW to eat.

The first step to success is wanting to do the work. Goodjob! Most overweight people look at themselves and dont want to do anything because they think it's too late or they wont lose all the weight they want to so it's pointless to them. Goodluck.

if your still at school, try the elliptical or bike for a bit, before running strenously. Btw ive never been a fan of fine gravel, though i have torn my acl a few years back, i can only run on grass or track... Just take it easy, its a lifestyle change, that takes time. We are here to support you

I think you are starting out with to much exercise in the beginning. I would start out slower so you don't burn yourself out right away. I have seen many people start exercising at a high level only to burn themselves out and then quit. I would do something like cardio 3x a week and lift 2x a week. That would give you time off to rest and recover. As for diet, I would do ckd(www.c-k-d.com) to maximize fat loss, plus it is easy to follow. I use ckd for cutting and I have found that it leans out faster then other diets.

Watching what and how you eat is very, very important. Most of all, try to avoid white breads and sugary beverages. Those are the 2 worst things for gaining fat.
Your exercise regimen sounds good, but I would start off with something lighter impact. The elliptical or swimming are good choices.

I do the elliptical Mon-Wed-Fri, with some weights after, and I swim Tues-Thurs. It's good, breaks up the workouts a bit so I don't get as bored.
I used to swim competitively, but now I do it just for fun/fitness

Just chiming in with what some of the others are voicing. For me at least, weight control is 80% diet, 20% exercise. Be sure you have the food side under control so you are getting the most out of your lifting/running.
Good luck man. Realizing there is an issue, and deciding to do something about it is usually the toughest part.

After a few weeks of procrastination I finally went to the gym. Started with 40 min on the eliptical then worked on my chest and tricepts. The eliptical went great, felt good afterward. My heart rate was at 130 soon after I started then climbed all the way to 170 at the end. The majority of the time it was about 150.
The weight lifting went well too, but I am going to be very sore this week. I did 3 sets on the bench, incline, and decline. My tricepts were failry tired so I only did two sets of over head extensions then ended with a light ab workout.
Other than the soreness I will be going through everything went well.

As far as heart rate goes, I have heard that its good to go from resting level to upper level and back repeated (so 2 minutes at resting, 2 minutes at upper, 2 minutes at resting, etc). I have done this with good results. The thinking is that it increases your metabolism.

anyways for me i gained a ton of weight when i went on the cruise to Hawaii, i think somewhere along the lines of 5lbs, so far I've lost all that just by diet alone, but i need to kick it up a notch and actually make use of that school gym I'm paying for.

I run 2 days a week at the gym in the office (I need to have some impact aerobic exercise) and the 3rd day at the gym is the elliptical.
I would do the elliptical all 3 days but I need an impact activity as cycling can lower your overall bone density. There is no impact in road cycling which can lead to hip and other problems. Mountain biking doesn't have this problem as much, but with the advent of full suspension it is still needed.

Anyway I only worked out twice last week (mon & tues). The elciptical was great but the weights owned me hardcore. I was so sore it was painful to get dressed in the morning or even to brush my teeth. I know that you should try to work out you soreness sometimes but this was bad. A lesson was learned. Today I was on the eliptical for 45 min then did a light back, bicept, and ab workout. I should be able to hit the gym everyday this week since I am not in so much pain.

4 Week Update
So it's been 4 weeks since I started working out and the progress has been steady. I am eating better too. Mon, Wed, and Fri I am on the eliptical for 40-45 minutes, then I lift. On Tues and Thurs I play basketball. I finally feel that I am getting back into shape.

I weighed myself this morning and I am at 233. I started at 245. Now I am going to kick things into high gear once I get back from school. I am in shape enough to push myself harder without risking injury as much.
